We traveled in a group of 9 people and stayed there for the first night we flight to Kathmandu and we will head for Pokhara the next morning. It is in a small street so the taxi driver takes some time to find it. We arrived late at night and we wake up the host and he show us the... More

We previously stayed in Thamel, and it was much too noisy. The Family Peace House is really quiet, but close enough to Thamel to organise all your trekking stuff. The rooms are spacious and clean and bright. The staff are very helpful, and were happy to store our bikes (we are cycle touring), while we did some trekking in Nepal... More

I have spent almost one week in this guesthouse. The location is not in the middle of the noisy and touristy Thamel, but just nearby, in a very quiet area with few guesthouses. The colors of the building and the ornament plants at the entrance make a warmly welcoming. The manager has a permanent childy smile which will make you... More

We felt not very welcome here. The staff didn't care about us. The rooms were not that clean and the tea was bad. From outside it looks nice but there was not a nice restaurant or common place in their building. You can find better places in the same street.

Bimal's Family Peace House is the best location to explore Katmandu. Close located to the Thamel area, quiet, clean, basic but cheerful, friendly staff and best value rooms in Katmandu. Either you can stay there for a few nights to plan your trip around Nepal, Bimal is an expert trekking guide who can give you plenty of information to travel... More

My partner & I along with some of our fellow travellers stayed at Family peace for a lot longer than intended due to the fact that it was good value for money, in a perfect location, just five minutes walk from Thamel; but more than that, it was due to the friendly staff making us feel truly welcome. There's free... More

Before I start my review, I'd just like to make a couple of points in reference to some of the reviews below. I don't know what some people are expecting, but the reality is that Nepal is still very much a developing country. Things like power outages, wifi problems and water shortages are a fact of life. It has nothing... More

Good location but poor service, the owners don't care about customers, nobody clean the share bathroom, all the day they wait on the couch.... we saw 2 rats in the room near the kitchen and the sheets are not changed.

Also this year we spend a few weeks in the ‘Family peace house’ at Poknajol. More times in different rooms. It was the last time because we will not book this guesthouse again. There are pros and cons but the list of cons get longer every time we stay here. I will make a honest list of all those things... More

Just a five minute walk from the city centre you find the Family Peace Guest House. It's a quiet place with friendly staff. Rooms are clean and it's possible to arrange trips via the hostel. Negotiate about the price (especially when it's low season). I had some trouble with our shower, but maybe that's just a Nepali thing.
