We stayed in the hotel before and after our trip to Langtang national park. The location is convinient, just in the hearth of Thamel, making it possible for some last minute shopping for the equipment. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. They may arrange very cheap next-day laundry service for 50 rupees/kilo. Together with taking care about our unnecessary... More

I stayed at Potala for about 10 days during my stay in Kathmandu. It is situated in the dead centre of Thamel, therefore great for being central to everything. The room i had shared a wall with the nightclub next door, purple haze. Every night was like trying to sleep in a club, the music penetrated the walls like nothing... More

We stayed two nights at Hotel Potala, and we loved it! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and organized transport from the airport to the hotel. The rooms are very basic, but clean and ok considering the price. There is a nice rooftop eating area, and breakfast is included. The best part is the location. It i located in... More

We stayed there for two nights. The room was newly renovated with wooden floor. Hotel stuff was great specially Prakash and Ramesh. Power outage are Nepal's generic problem. So, no fault for them. Food from their kitchen may not be great but it works when you short time in hand.

The place itself is ok, but it should definitely be specified that the hotel is tucked right in between some of the two noisiest dance clubs in the area, which makes it completely impossible to sleep. At some point my windows were shaking. I left around midnight to go to a different hotel and the music was louder than ever.... More

Stayed here with a friend in a twin room. Rooms are clean and simple, what you'd expect in that price range. However a nightclub located in the building right next to the rooms makes it impossible to sleep before 2am (midnight if it's your lucky day). We complained and despite the hotel being only half full, the manager refused to... More

If listening to reggae, dubstep and 1970's rock music simultaneously whilst you sleep is your thing.. Then stay here! The only wall of my room that wasn't emanating sound and vibrations until 1 sometimes 2am was the wall that lead to the hallway. I have been to Kathmandu multiple times and laid my head down in numerous different guesthouse after... More

Friendly and helpful staff, really nice breakfasts, good value for money and brilliant location but it is very noisy at night- can be difficult to sleep, rooms basic but nice- it is worth getting a deluxe room if you can as you get a tv!
