Had a grand time at Bongwe; the rooms were above what I was expecting for the price point and the crew there are welcoming and genuine. Had a few late nights at the bar, which cracks on to pretty late and is packed with funny characters and good humour. The food at the bar's fair delicious, or at least the... More

Very good location, very good quick replies to e amils. Rooms clean, spotless in fact. Spacious too. Close to small shopping centre and to lots of restaurants too. Pub is really pleasant. On one of the nights we were there the neighbouring pub next door had a long and raucous party that went on for a bit but that happens... More

I've stayed at Bongwe many times as I pass thru Lusaka, and I'll stay many more times as well. The staff are very genuine and friendly, the crowd very welcoming and although fridaynights Can be loud..... That's what Friday nights are for. Rooms are roomy and comfortable, cooking facilities great, bar menu good if cooking is not your forte, and... More

I was flying out from Lusaka and had time to kill during the afternoon. I was planning on spending the night here but unfortunately they were fully booked so I stayed somewhere else and spent the afternoon at the swimming pool at Bongwe. Loved it! Everyone was very friendly, they organized my taxi to the airport, I could use the... More

I was lucky enough to stay at Bongwe while working on my graduate thesis, and it could not have been a better experience. My room was clean and welcoming and the staff were very accommodating of my research needs, including access to the internet and spreading out my work over the common room tables. In fact, the staff were quite... More

I spent two nights at the guesthouse and was OK, it is in Lusaka ROMA quarter. The staff were very helpful, the room was clean and comfortable...even too spacious, the fan on the ceiling was not working, but really not needed. My room faced the bar where a little concert was held...but noise very acceptable and the music was nice,... More

I spent two nights at the guesthouse, and enjoyed my stay. The staff were very helpful and the environment was quite comfortable. the room was clean and comfortable. nothing fancy, but i didn't expect fancy. the bar does generate some noise (music, voices, etc.), but nothing that kept me awake. the staff also introduced me to a wonderful driver, who... Three out of the four rooms were very good size (there were 8 of us), one was strangely small with no en-suite. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. The downside which was disappointing was the live-band on a Friday night. I appreciate in a guest house that you have to look at all opportunities for revenue, but considering I believe... More

Some rooms lovely, some functional. Such a friendly place to stay, the staff could not be any nicer! Pool area is nice, with great buzzing bar which has a BBQ every night - very tasty. Nowhere within walking distance so be prepared to get taxis if you're here for a while.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bongwe's Big Bush Bar and Guest House is fantastic affordable home-away-from-home. Whether you are in town for business, pleasure or just passing through, our centrally located guest house is a great place to catch up with old friends or create new ones. We have two room types which are either en-suite or standard rooms with a shared bathroom. The rates include a basic self service continental breakfast, housekeeping, laundry, free wifi and secure parking. There is a lovely little restaurant in house serving hearty pub grub will serve you well if you don't feel like going out to eat. But we can also recommend a number of good places around town to eat if you do. Guests have use of a nice clean swimming pool, a free pool table and wifi. As well as being a guest house we have a lively members bar on site and this can be a little loud over a weekend. As it is members only everyone is very friendly and it is a safe environment for both solo and group travellers. It is also a great place to meet locals and like minded people experience a little piece of Lusaka night life. We are close to the two main shopping malls, Arcades and Manda HIll (2 & 4kms respectively) and our new location is now right next to a small little mall called Foxdale Court. In this little spot you will find a couple of restaurants, a delicious ice cream shop and a nice open air bar on the top if you feel like spoiling yourself. We're a 2 minute walk to a bus stop, but we'd prefer you use taxis as the minibuses can be a little crazy. We're 20 mins from the airport and can arrange an airport transfer for you at k200 (approx $30) each way. Our sister company Bongwe Safaris operates from our guest house offering 4 days safaris departing to the Kafue National Park each week. With brother and sister owners Alec and Stacey Cole along with the rest of the senior team Jairos, Claudia, Tracey and Novias you won't be short of friendly faces as soon as you arrive. ... more   less
