We stayed here for one night en route from Croc Valley Camp (South Luangwa National Park) to Lusaka. The camp is impossible to find using a GPS. The last 2 km or so is `n gravel road in poor condition. The camp is close to the airport and also close to the road from Lusaka to Chipata. Accommodation was good... More

Stopped at Pioneer Lodge and Camp for a one night stop on route to South Luangwe National Park. The road in +- 5km's from the main road is shocking very corrugated and bumpy. Ablutions clean with hot and cold water. Good place to stop when trying to get from Livingstone to Chipata. Would stop here again before Eureka camp site... More

This is a wonderful spot, we stayed in a cabin but the camp site looks excellent too. Both have full access to the facilities including a well run bar and a great restaurant . They are famous for their T bone steaks and justly so. The lodge and camp are perfectly situated just outside Lusaka on the main road so... More

Stayed here for one night while travelling to South Luangwa, luckily a friend had been here before and was able to find it, approx 10 mins off of the main road via an unmade bumpy track. Upon arrival it was clear this was a nice place, reception and bar area were very inviting. We checked into our cottage which was... More

Pioneer lodge is a good choice if you want to be out of the busy city and busy road/airport. ABout half an hour drive from the airport, we spend one night waiting for transfer flight. They offered a chalet, very nice and comfortable. Pioneer has a good restaurant and bar. It was a bit difficult to find it, because it... More

We stayed at Pioneer while en-route to Lower Zambezi. It turned out to be a very enjoyable stay - we were in one of the cottages, which was really comfortable and nicely decorated. We had dinner in the restaurant and my husband had one of the infamous steaks. Although he needed the resident dogs to help him out as the... More

We stayed here twice this year, both times we have had a very warm and helpful welcome, found the staff cheerful and have been very pleased with the value. There are improvements being made and I would happily return here if we come back to Lusaka. The food in the restaurant is very good, the tables are nicely situated outside... More

This is a fabulous and very relaxing place to stay if you need to be near Lusaka but dont want to stay in the city and pay the ridiculous prices at the city centre hotels. The cottages are clean and very comfortable, and the surrounding bush makes the setting ideal. The staff including Paul the owner could not have been... More

I visited Pioneer many years ago. I did not stay there but overall I was not impressed and wondered why visitors should go there. The birdlife intrigued me, and I returned to stay in the cosy family cottage. I wondered around the grounds enjoying the beauty, birds and the standards of the cottages. I can recommend this Lodge to anyone.

Stayed for 2 nights on route to Buffalo camp. Our Chalet was comfortable, private, peaceful and quiet. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Meals were good and plentiful. Management arranged a driver and vehicle for us to tour Lusaka which was greatly appreciated, and the management gave the impression that they could arrange or organise whatever you required within reason, hire...
