Chose this as I didn't fancy a city centre hotel and had a one night stopover on the way to mwufe from Windhoek. I booked directly with them and always got a fast response. Stayed off season and booked a chalet, two airport transfers, dinner and breakfast for $160. The staff were lovely, airport pickup was on time, loved the... More

This is the second time we have used Pioneer Camp on our way to/from South Luangwa. For us it is a much better alternative to a city centre hotel. Yes it is a little more rustic but keeps you feeling like you are in Africa and not just any other city hotel. We stayed in the chalets but there are... More

An enjoyable stay for 1 night before flying onto South Luangwa and 1 night after my safari. Spacious chalet, clean and very comfortable set amongst the grounds and trees of the site give a feel of Africa retained. Friendly staff, the excellent pioneer steaks and a social hub for interesting people to meet and share stories and information. Paul, Sophie,... More

Having spent 3 nights at Pioneer in 2013, we enjoyed it so much and were so impressed with the lodge, the device and with Paul, the owner, that we asked him to organise a month' s safari for us in August, giving us a really insiders' view of the culture, scenery and of course the game. We were not disappointed... More

I had a lovely second stay at Pioneer Camp. It is a great stayover place if you are flying through Lusaka. I stayed in the tents which were great value. The transfer service from the airport is convenient. Thanks to the very professional staff.

Near Lusaka International Airport if you plan to fly in or out, yet outside of the hustle and bustle of the city. Convenient to leave your vehicle if you want to come back to resume your journey or safari. Clean and good facilities for camping. With the variety of lodging, e.g. safari tents, lodges or en suite rooms, you are... More

We stayed here at the very start of our trip and it was such an excellent way to get over jet lag and get ready for our trip in Zambia. The rooms are nice, there is a great bar and outdoor terrace. We were picked up from the airport and everything was friendly and easy.

We travelled in convoy 4 Land rover 4 x 4 vehicles from Dar es Salaam to Cape Town so we were used to some "interesting" stays along the way. We had stayed at other places in Zambia before but when Pioneer Camp was recommended by 2 travellers we decided to give it a try. It was a bit difficult to... More

Nice place to overnight with a cosy bar. The restaurant was good, but expensive. This spot is difficult to find, so make sure you have good directions. Even confused our garmin with tracks-4-Africa. The wi-fi doesn't like any apple devices for some or other reason. I would suggest getting that fixed. The accommodation is not very modern, but was clean... More

This place is close to the airport, but rather far from the Lusaka main bus station. It is outside of the city though, which is a great comfort and very peaceful. Make sure you have them arrange a ride from the airport, which is nice because you'll be on your way right away. The lodge is located off the main... More
