As an overseas consultant and frequent visitor to East Africa, I was delighted to discover this hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable with fast Internet connection from room and poolside. Rooms have been tastefully refurbished and are spotless. All the mod cons you would expect from an up market hotel but half the price, TV, minibar, hair dryer... More

One night stay at this hotel, as you walk down the hall, you can hear the sounds of another resident urinating and their choice of music playing. Wifi extends 20m from source. Room had AC but no remote. Breakfast was ordinary and cold. additionally no milk in room to have with your morning coffee. The staff were unwilling to bring... More

I really disagree with part of Djarabis review. I have stayed here probably ten times. Its not a brilliant hotel but very good for the price and you have to be fair when you review a hotel. There are absolutely no mosquitos in this hotel ( particularly the upstairs rooms). All the windows to the communal corridors are closed upstairs... More

The hotel is situated in the safe precinct of the Kampala Club and is quite handy to the majority of city sites. Sadly, it is in dire need of a large refurbishment programme. Just about everything is in need of replacement - the outdoor breakfast area tables and chairs are all uneven, the carpets in the room I stayed in... More

This hotel is located near the Stanbic Bank and Kakumatt, downtown Kampala. The price is reasonnable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are quite nice and well equipped, but many cockroaches are to be met... No mosquito nets provided. The breakfast is included and generous.

I liked this place despite the so-so rooms All laundry is include in room rate, this was useful as I was 7 days into a 2 week trip. Wireless is included and worked relatively well. Breakfast is included but definitely nothing special. Overall service is good and there is secure parking. You also get access to the Kampala Club that... More

Myself and my husband stayed on business related matters for a week’s time. The hotel has only a few well maintained clean rooms. Everything looks and feels homely here. The bathrooms are incredibly clean (the cleaning ladies do a great job everyday). The rooms are good, comfortable, with some old fashioned furnitures, internet facility, and air conditioning. You can leave... More

Have been going to Kampala for business (and friends in the meantime) since the time when the Serena was still called Nile hotel and I was down in my swimming trousers at Nile's reception asking for the pool ("Wie ave nooo pool sir, hahaha"). Kampala has changed a lot since then, and is a buzzing pleasant and rather safe city... More

I stayed at the Shangri La for several weeks as a single woman travelling to Kampala for work. The hotel has a beautiful garden and is attached to the kampala sports club, which offers a pool and tennis courts. Internet is free in the rooms (ask for a cable). It is also very safe and enclosed behind a guarded gate.... More

I do NOT recommend this hotel for female travellers or anyone expecting a comfortable, upmarket stay. The room had a pungent smell of incense and was not the cleanest. There was no bed frame--only a sagging mattress on the floor, only Indian TV shows and the BBC as TV channels, and overpriced for the amenities on offer. I left after... More

much appreacited for the comment made we learn from our mistakes, some statements were completetly not true like overpriced, shanging mattress on the floor, this is purely not true, for the TV channels (indian cable), this was replaced with DSTV, becouse of many complaints from guests about the TV channels in the rooms thus we had to change, the hotel...
