Room was clean. Wifi was Ok, but could be better. Breakfast was good. Security was tight, all backpacks checked when coming in every time. There is bar located outside and the staff are all friendly. Try a local Nile beer. They also do food. The Hotel accept US dollars or credit cards.

The Speke is well-located in the centre of town and close to government and other offices. The rooms are comfortable and clean (although the single rooms can be *very* small), with all the facilities you'd expect (wifi, TV, OK bathrooms, comfortable beds, etc). The in-hotel dining options are OK (excellent pizza) and there's a nice bar. It's reasonably priced. Having... More

The Speke Hotel in Kampala has been for almost 20 years a sure value. A touch of colonial style for interior design, large rooms and a central but quiet location are the major positives. From time to time the rooms are modernized and and made over. if you like eating Indian food, one of the best Indians in the city... More

I spent a night at the Speke Hotel (commonly called TOURIST HOTEL). The hotel is conveniently located near the main bus park with easy access to other parts of Kampala (if you don't mind the ever present traffic jams). Although I had booked a double room I was only provided with one old towel and a small piece of soap.... More

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel because we had spent over 6 months working in the bush for an NGO and were looking for comfort as a reward to the end of our contracts. When browsing online, it seemed like this hotel would fit the bill in terms of comfort and luxury, however I had a few disappointments. Pros:... More

I have been there 2 nights. The position is in the best centre of Kampala. The building is an old fashionable english style house. The staff is very kind and helpful. Bar and restaurant offer good food for very fair price, The only negative point is the room (111), small and very noisy; at 6 something a lot of people... More

We stayed at the Speke Hotel for 3 days at the start of our 3 week journey around Uganda. The hotel organised a taxi for us($35USD) from Entebbe Airport, which was a great service, especially as we arrived at night.(you can arrange a taxi back to the airport directly with a driver for approx $20 USD). The service from the... More

the rooms, staff, location, facilities and the view are ok. take a boat tour in the lake victoria. visit island villages. do not forget to take some sweets for the kids. do not try to swim in the lake but use the pool. by the way rooms have combined balconies so watch for the security.
