First, the improvements: 1) Need to seriously work on improving WiFi experience: Service is inconsistent, signals are usually weak in room, despite having a router right on your door. Need to have uniform password for hotel residents, irrespective of where they are on premises, whether breakfast area, Indian restaurant, bar/ cafe, room, reception, etc. 2) Need uniform water mixing, temperature... Would love to come again........ Bar was amazing too with different concepts of lightning. Dont forget to visit Rock Garden Cafe it was awesome best cafe with best view........

Fair size room, with good WiFi in room, effective A/C. Shower still had the old style plastic curtain which is a pain. I used their Indian restaurant and found the dishes excellent with good service. In general OK for business visits, but perhaps not enough refinement for most tourists.

Stayed two separate times at the Speke. Peaceful and clean. I felt safe and enjoyed most of the food I had. We worked in several areas around the city during our stay and it is centrally located. My only concern is what they sprayed in the room while I was skyping my son :(

I have a sentimental attached to the Speke as I remember it in the 60's when I lived in Kampala. I've stayed there several times since. On this trip I travelled around Uganda and stayed in 10 different hotels and was able to compare the hotel with others in Uganda. I regret to say the Speke was the worst. It... More

On the face of it "Speke Hotel", as the sign above the entrance proudly adorns, has the perfect ingredients for a capital hotel. The building, beautifully designed in a colonial era, has all the hallmarks of former colonial splendour, and aspects exudes a similar aura. The reality is hotel deep in underinvestment and ownership with flagrant regard for its customers.... More

I have travelled in Africa for the last 20 years, and I'm used to terrible, but this took it to another level. As you arrive you realize you made a mistake. The lobby is old, smells of old and you can see and feel the dirt everywhere. The check in took a lifetime. I was eventually taken to my room,... More

I stayed at the Speke Hotel for approximately a month for business. The hotel is no five star but has all the amenities that I presume a standard business traveller needs. The room I stayed had a nice big double bed and a comfortable work desk. The room also had a nice veranda overlooking the main road where you can... More

Our flight was cancelled in Nairobi so got on one two hours later and emailed reception to tell them this as organised a airport pickup.they informed me via email that they were full and offered me their appartments which are in a leafy suburb (no breakfast)... The hotel is in a central location, but this is it. I reserved a double bed room, with balcony through hotels.com- I got a twin, with no balcony. Minus: - prison style (check photos) - a very small window in the room, located very high near the ceiling. - a cockroach was messily killed on one of walls. Nobody bothered... More
