The Aponye Hotel is close to the Central Bus station for trips to other areas in Uganda. It is also well located - within walking distance to banks and the Central post office. We found the security more than helpful with excellent English and a good understanding of the best way to support foreigners. The food isn't great but it... More

Name it and they got it: flees, cockroches, poor and shaming breakfast, no hit shower, unfriendly staff (most of them). In 2 nights change 3 rooms. Across the road there is a nicer hotel, same prices (without breakfast) and nicest staff!

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel on 21/02/2015. We locked the door and went out to eat from 7.30 to 9.30pm. Whilst we were out somebody entered the room and stole my girlfriends locked day pack, which lucky didn't contain anything of huge value, but still we lost clothes a certain amount of cash and various other items.... I have been there several times but now they have improved by adding break fast and reduced their price for some rooms. I would like to thank the management. The hotel is clean and the staffs are friendly. The location is in the middle of the town and crowded. I recommend to some one who wants good price and clean... More

We recently stayed at the Aponye because Lonely Planet said it was the best value for money and we were terribly disappointed! It was hot (only a fan), small, had no hot water, was loud, had a yucky bathroom, and the staff were totally unhelpful. I may have been able to hack this in my student days (I do backpacking... On my second night in this hotel I walked into my room to find a huge rat running back and forth between the bed and the window. I called the front desk and to say they were interested in helping me would be a stretch. They sent a security guard to look around and shrug his shoulders, so I asked... More

I had the most expensive room which was okay... could have been cleaner... there was a tv, sometimes hot water (not much pressure), a nice table with chairs, wifi, it's in one of the busiest streets of Kampala beware of pick-pocketers... There's a lot of guards in the hotel... As the doors are thin and the guard was 1 meter... More

My friend and I stayed at Aponye hotel in September. We really needed to get a place to have some rest after being in different parks in Uganda and somewhere clean but in the centre town! Aponye hotel was the right place for us. My friend was very happy because for him it was the first time in Kampala, and... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Aponye Hotel in June 2013. The hotel is a 6-story building in an extremely packed part of Kampala. There are security guards with rifles outside the entrance, and another security guard (no guns this time) on each floor at the entrance to the stairs after that. There's also an operational elevator! The rooms look... More
