This place was great for the price. The Pizza was delicious and the beer was cold. Internet and cozy chairs were great. The shower didn't fully work and I think someone tried to smoke in the bathroom, haha. But I would stay here again.

Dear Mermaidyogi Thanks very much for the feedback...if you could let us know which shower block you had problems with, that'd be really helpful. Thanks again and best regards Debbie More

Stayed here one night before the Murchison Falls safari. It's a place for travelers on a budget, rooms are very cheap and the food is cheap. This attracts the predictable crowd of backpackers and hitchhikers and truck drivers. I stayed in a single room with shared toilets/showers. The room is basic, but clean and nice, facilities could be cleaner, but... More

Dear Shvarz Thanks very much for your thoughts on Red Chilli - we are currently looking into what we can do to improve packed lunches. Suggestions would always be welcome. Sorry about the roosters too...they don't belong to us but when you're not used to the noise, it's definitely not one of Kampala's finest moments! Best regards Debbie More

We stayed one night before going on the big five trip to Murchison Falls, which was a very nice trip. Room ok, reasonably clean, good value. Nice pizza. I wouldn't recommend the packed lunch however. Internet didn't work too well.

Dear Eliseheemstede Thanks for taking the time to review Red Chilli. If you could get in touch with us again, we'd be really keen to hear what improvements we could make to our packed lunches. Sorry the internet was a little slow too - it seems to be a constant battle in Uganda! Best regards Debbie More

Really enjoyed our stay at Red Chilli. We had a private room, which was big and had an en suite bathroom and was incredibly good value compared with B&B and hotel options in Kampala. The bar/restaurant is lively and fun and the staff are full of energy. Slightly slow to clean things up and there is sometimes a lot of... More

Dear Wahala-o Many thanks for passing on all your comments about Red Chilli. Sorry to hear your pizza had a soggy base as we normally get great feedback about our pizzas. We cook the pizzas in metal trays for hygiene reasons (as the pizza oven is outside and often surrounded by monkeys, cats and birds) and normally it seems to... More

We stayed at Red Hot Chili right before and after our Murchison Falls Safari (also booked with Red Hot Chili, also highly recommended!). The staff was very friendly, the food was good, there's internet, hot showers, room to clean and dry your clothes... and there are grocery stores not far away. Backpackers paradise!

Situated on a fairly large piece of property Red Chilli is definitely popular among backpackers and regular visitors. The choice of rooms are many - independent little villas, rooms and dorms. Dorms (when I stayed) cost USD 8 (nothing else included). Every bed has a mosquito net, a small kitchen with a refrigerator is provided. Place to wash and dry... More

Dear AnjalyDubai Thanks so much for all your positive comments. Sorry your bed was a bit saggy though - hopefully you'll be pleased to hear that we are currently in the process of replacing all the mattresses with brand new ones! Best regards Debbie More

This is not my first stay in Red Chilli. I passed through several times 5 years ago while travelling in Uganda. I'm glad to say that little has changed in that time. Red Chilli offers a safe and cheap place to stay in Kampala with the opportunity to hang out in the lively bar with lots of interesting people or... More

As backpackers go this is a pretty good one. The staff are super friendly, there's free wi-fi and tv in the lounge area which is fairly spacious and comfortable. I only stayed for one night so didn't get to try much on the menu, but their pizzas for dinner are highly recommended. Baked fresh and big! There's a pretty good... More

One of the best backpackers we stayed in in East Africa. Great staff, clean rooms and bathrooms, always hot water, helpful people around- and relatively very cheap. Highly recommend. The hotel run a cab service which is enormously helpful, and there's no shortage of friendly staff. Breakfast takes forever though, so get there early!

Dear Okhs Thanks for the great feedback! Sorry your breakfast took forever though - our kitchen can get totally swamped with orders very early on - particularly when we have a few trips leaving that morning. We're trying to improve on the delivery time by limiting the menu for those leaving early. Best regards Debbie More

The Red Chilli Hideaway is a great little hostel with a fantastic atmosphere. Complete with a restaurant, bar, free wifi and even a plunge pool!! The staff are so friendly and always willing to help (they even often join you for a chat by the bar). The dorm rooms are spacious and the double rooms are worth the little extra... More
