3rd visit and i think its my last. This hotel was built to house CHOGM years ago and today seems to operate largely for conferences which use the many rooms on the ground floor. Its Africa and so ratings reflect this, so despite its age, its looking tired around the edges. Usual things that show the signs. Cracks in bathrooms,... More

Stayed here on business last week. Kampala is a vibrant colourful and a little bit scary. But coming from the gridlocked smoggy roads through the concrete blocks and guards to the hotel you are stepping into something completely different. The metal detector arch in the lobby is something you don't see every day! This hotel is big and I mean... More

This hotel is very huge...the rooms are so huge/spacious a bit too huge for my taste (but that is just me). The rooms have wall to wall carpeting and are the furniture is okay. However, there is this smell in the rooms (a bit like mold...) , I am not sure if it is because of the wall to wall... More

We went there there to visit a few facilities to stay in future, however we found that the building is well built and looks attractive from outside however once you enter, it lacks almost everything including poorly trained/informed staff, poorly maintained rooms. We could see cracks in room walls, WC's were stinking badly. The staff had no knowledge of prices... More

This hotel is definitely adequate and served its purpose for our work/volunteer purposes quite nicely. The rooms are comfortable and the food is ok. The shower was fabulous. It was extremely difficult to get ahold of one of the hotel's hair dryers (one time it took three days), requiring multiple phone calls and many, many broken promises, so definitely bring... More

This is a huge hotel situated next to the centre of Kampala(10 mins walk) It is very secure and hosts a large number of business conferences which sees a lot of life during the day. There is a roof top swimming pool which is open air and very good with attached health studio. The food is good, breakfasts are buffet... More

The hotel has spacious rooms and the staff are extremely friendly. Its a place which I stay regularly whenever I am in Kampala. They have a state of art gym, swimming pool, sauna and steam on the fifth floor. its not far from the city centre and its highly secured.

I have on previous visits stayed at their sister hotel The Grand Imperial down the road. I thought I will give this a try for a 6 night stay. The hotel is clearly quite big but occupancy appears quite low - may be I was there during a low season. The rooms are large and loads of space. Beds were comfortable... More

You can always guarantee getting a room in this vast hotel but that it is the problem. It is too large to have any character. While the rooms are fine it is pricey and the restaurant and public spaces are devoid of any interest.

I stayed at the Imperial Royal for 4 nights recently, on a work trip. This was a conference and the hotel housed both the participants and the actual conference sessions. Hotel drops and pickups from/to the airport worked fine. The hotel is enormous and seems largely empty. The rooms are vast - I mean truly /vast/ - with huge empty... More
