Shame really, great location, staff and potential, The infrastructure is crumbling and my guess is the owners are holding on to the status quo and loyal customer base for as long as possible. I am surprised that Mercure is willing to manage such an operation. Perhaps there is something planned? Anyhow, its a national treasure and conference center. A overpriced,... More

We can to the Mercure as a result if "evacuating" from the Ibis hotel (see review). The first impression was great. Every request at check in was greeted with "no problem". The rooms were nice. WIFI was available and a safe and refrigerator was there for your convenience. The other important feature of the Mercure is 2-3 guards on all... More

I feel the owners and upper management is doing a huge disservice to the hardworking staff! It's overpriced, old stale hallways, not well lit, paint falling in the lobby, restrooms are ancient etc.... I had to change rooms 4 times while I was here. Read my previous reviews, I'm not that picky and hate to slam a place with a... More

The Mercure Sarakawa proved to be an outdated, smelly and boring hotel. Customer service is sub par, rooms are dingy, and the room rates are sky high. The food menu is very limited. If you stay for 2 weeks or longer you'll notice theres not a lot of variety. They have no gym and a useless business center with limited services.... More

Used to be the only decent hotel in Lome, but the Santa Maria (?) is said to be better so I will try it next time. Mercure looks and feels absolutely the same since I started coming here in 2009. One improvement is a faster and more reliable wifi, also outside. But rooms are barely maintained (I had to change... More

This is the premier hotel in Togo let alone Lome so if you are staying in the country then you will do no better. The hotel is busy as expected with little comparable or better alternative. The last Mercure Hotel I stayed in was in Luxembourg. The staleness and tired decor were so similar. Maybe that is part of the... More

Sarakawa was a good experience for me. The staff were very friendly, and they always had an English speaking person to deal with you, once they realised that your French was not up to scratch. The suite was very good, and I had great view of the beach. The bathroom was good and clean. The hotel staff were very cordial... More

The best address in Lomé, but nothing is of walking distance (but taxis are so cheap...!). Lobby of the hotel also has all usual amenities: souvenir shop, press for foreign newspapers and magazines (not only French press, they had The Economist!), beauty salon, pastry shop, piano bar, night club, etc. The spa has affordable and good quality treatments: 10,000 CFA... The Sarakawa is a large hotel on a busy road but also backing to the ocean. It has a large lobby with lounge, cafe and bar. Outside behind the hotel is a large pool area with another bar, and further back a raised outdoor restaurant. Beyond that (I'm told) is the beach but I was there at night and didn't... More
