I stayed here in Aug 2010, during the rainy season - when it pours in Freetown, it pours like it will wash away the town. So better to stay here, since this place is well equipped for a torrential rain - you can atleast sit in the terrace and use the flaky and near-dialup speed internet connection. Country Lodge is... I recently spent 6 days at this hotel and while it was an ok experience, it really was overpriced for what you receive. The check-in process was below average with the assistant demanding that I pay upfront before I can proceed to my room. The rooms are dated, but clean and functional. The internet connection was very slow, but worked... More

My room (ground floor, 1004) was smelly, dark, dank, dowdily,… The pillow was that stinky, only with a towel on top and the thought about a shower next morning I was able to sleep. And the best was the price, 3 nights for 450 USD!!! The staff was not willing to provide a different room always telling we are full,... More

The quality of hotels in Freetown is extremely variable; cramped, odd rooms, dodgy cleanliness, generators that run out during the night rendering aircon and showers useless. The Country Lodge is a notable exception. The rooms are a decent size, have mozzie nets, aircon, a fridge, cable TV (SA-based DSTV) and wired internet. The showers work, the beds are pretty good,... For what they charge, I thought this delivered well below the mark. The room was very big, but shabby. The site talks of "24h Internet Connection" - they might have meant that's how long it takes to get a connection. It comes and goes without any noticeable pattern and is generally weak. Whilst the reception staff and some of the... More

Constant mosquitoes and contracted malaria. But that was not actually why I left. The owners at the time--maybe the same ones--were extremely abusive verbally to staff, and rather unpleasant to the rare black visitor. I am not sure whether the woman who doled out most of the abuse was South African or Australian, but regardless it was unacceptable. She was... More

The hotel has a beautiful crystal clear swimming pool and the surroundings are clean and well maintained. The views of the ocean from here are simply spectacular. The hotel’s restaurant serves good food and the chef is a nice man who takes interest in catering to your preferences. One has to try his freshly cooked sea foods to know his... More

Stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks during a work trip to Sierra Leone. The hotel is in an area without restaurants or shopping, but the restaurant in the hotel is decent; although in 2 weeks you get bored of any food..rooms are simple but fairly clean, sheets were kind of muggy though..hotel has pool and tennis court and a... At USD184 for a single, one would expect some classy interior design. However, I propose that you have to keep in mind that they only have 17 rooms (according to their brochure) and they have to spread the income over the cost of maintenance of their swimming pool, which is clean (the chlorine treatment is good. They may want to... More

The Country lodge hotel is relatively average hotel for African standard but otherwise it would be considered less than average to poor international standard. There is no better hotel in Freetown so it is your best bet. The Hotel is averagely low expensive ($200) but you get very little for your money. More
