I agree - this hotel is a stain on the Sofitel brand name although not for the prices charged! For a developing country, the prices are RIDICULOUS. Like 5 euros for a bottle of water Staff are good and friendly, even when they are trying to sell you Senegalese currency (that was a room service maid). The jewel is the... more

Just returned from vacationing & a pilgrimage to Africa. The hotel was wonderful - very upscale and services offered were very nice. The hotel offered a sparkling pool and was right at the oceans edge. Our room overlooked this scene that included flowering bouganivillea & tropical natural landscaping. The staff was very attentive, caring and respectful. We had a great... more

Rooms on the smallish side, but pleasant nonetheless. Did get locked out on the terrace at 2:30 a.m. Interior self locking doors, be forewarned! Did manage to yell to the street and had a security guard up to open the door within a few minutes.A decent location and clean and friendly, a nice oasis of peace and calm. Breakfast was... more

I stayed at the Meridien(supposedly the poshest), and the Sofitel in Dakar, and would recommend Sofitel first. The staff were all very helpful, and the setting which is central but overlooks the se a is unbeatable for a city hotel. The rooms are good ...(my bathroom could have done with a bit of a refurb )and the common areas including... more

I stayed at the Teranga for three days for work. Right after checking in, I went to my room to put some documents and valuables in the room safe, but it was broken. When I complained about it to the staff, they became very aggressive and told me there could be nothing done to fix it and there was nowhere... more

I was at the Hotel Sofitel Teranga during June 2007 - for 5 days, with my girlfriend. Basically the hotel is bueatiful, clean well organised and staff are organised, a bit cold though. Overall our stay was excellent, the hotel is a bit pricey though, but I enjoyed it and the rooms overlooking the see and Goree Island is excellent.... more

I experienced a wonderful time at the Sofitel in Dakar. My room was a little tired, but it was in no way shabby or in disrepair. It was clean, the bed was nice, TV worked great. Who stays in their room all the time anyway? It is just a place to sleep and shower. The staff here are very kind... more

I transferred from the Novotel to the Sofitel. I paid about the same price in both and this is definitely better quaility. I found the food in the restaurant very good, although expensive. I found the room well appointed. The pool is beautiful and the sea views from the restaurant (particularly outside) are superb. By the way, the pool is... more

We stayed five nights at the Sofitel Dakar in December of 2006. Although the desk staff is pleasant, you are disappointed constantly after checking in. The rooms are rather worn looking with few amenities. The mini-bars have nothing in them, not even water. We were told every day that it would be filled, but never was. The restaurant, has some... more

Dakar has a few acceptable hotels. Meridien is far away and boring, Teranga is located in centre town, that's great, but that's the only value for your money. I had a room for 145 euro with windows not cleaned. Bathtub didn't empty. Staff didn't show up. In my absence, hotel staff opened an envelope marked confidential in my room. I... more
