I stayed in Umobano hotel several times from 2008 to 2010. During this period, it changed from chain from Novotel to Laiko, but most people still know it as Novotel. The hotel is indeed calm and relaxing, specially by the swimming pool. I liked a lot to do meetings over there and drink coffee from Rwanda. There was a nice... More

I recently stayed at the Hotel (on a business visit). The room was good, service friendly and I had a pleasant stay at the Hotel. The good things - my room was clean, had a great view overlooking swimming pool and had most of of the required basic amenities. I think the hotel still can improve by better maintaing the... More

I stayed here for a couple of nights and generally enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel. It is due for an internal refurbishment but everything worked and the the staff were happy to help when I had a problem with the safe not closing (needed a new battery which was fixed immediately). The gardens are delightful and the pool was... More

I notice a variety of reviews on the site about the Umubano. This is one in its favour. I am a very well-traveled international consultant from UK who has exacting standards of room cleanliness, peace and tranquility, healthy food, working systems (e.g. internet) and staff attitude (but do not use the hotel phones for international calls...but there are numerous ways... I stayed in this hotel for a week in November 2012, the hotel forgot to pick me up at the airport and after making my way to the hotel at midnight the receoption staff were a tad undertrained and unapologetic. Barring that I did enjoy my stay, the hotel is definately oldworld and due for interior renovations but it has... More

Stayed here for more than 3 weeks on a work trip. Everything works - including a reliable and free internet. It is a hub for conferences , FIFA , regional faith based organisation, so it obviously works for them as well.

This is not a hotel, its a detention cente trying its hardest to make money. My room was infested with mosquitos, the wardrobe was clearly their base of operations, the incessant droning kept me up all night pinned under my sheets in mortal fear. My room had a post apolocalyptic feel to it, spacious but sparsely furnished with a ripped... More

My experience of this hotel has been as a day guest only. When I am in Kigali (approximately twice a year) I always make time on my schedule to spend an afternoon having lunch with friends in the garden restaurant, followed by a swim and sunbathing. The restaurant has a good a la carte menu, but it also does an... More

The fastest airport pickup I have received in months. You get a fresh juice served 2 minutes after you step into the lobby. Really loved the service, Internet and bus service. Food side, I was surprised that the "cold" part of the buffet was richer than the hot side. I loved the veggies. The best deal is the passion fruit... More

Found the staff cheerful and quick to respond to any requests. Business Centre helpful when we had problems with our laptop. Rooms a little tired but cleaned very well and sheets and towels changed daily if you wished. Gardens pleasant and well cared for with quiet areas for reading and working in. Food fair. Nets above bed if wished, obviously... More
