Kempinski hotels have blown it again in taking on a fallen icon and then failing to bring it up to any semblance of an acceptable standard. This hotel in Kigali is well located and should be a model of hotel excellence for the city. In reality it is an object lesson on how to weaken your brand by taking on... More

We stayed at this hotel on two occassions, once before and once after trekking with the gorillas and golden monkies. The hotel provided lots of security before entering the premises. The gardens were nice, but the pool was cold. The rooms were quite nice, but in the evenings the band was a bit loud and kept us awake. It was... More

The hospitality was definitely seen as we entered the hotel.when we asked for the panorama restaurant ,we were escorted all the way .the view was perfect with a gentle breeze and we had the restaurant all for ourselves. food and service was great.

We have been there twice now and won't be returning. First time we ordered food they served my wife and made me wait 20 minutes with mine! Second time they served us undercooked pasta we ordered the same dish both dishes undercooked. The rooms weren't that impressive either. Not value for money at all!

I've read reviews that this hotel is "run down" or "not up to par" but i don't think thats the case. The lobby and outdoor restaurants, pool etc are all very up to date and modern. The rooms themselves are clean, but they are older. I think that is part of the experience in staying at this historic hotel. The... More

I only stayed here one night, but I found my room very clean and comfortable and well-appointed with air conditioning as well. Check in was a bit slow, but this is Africa after all, so not really a problem for me. Love the location and had a 3rd floor room at poolside, offering a stunning view of Kigali and the... More

Expected a bit more for the price and rating of this hotel. Breakfast was good but dinner options and menu options were poor for this kind of hotel. No hairdryer or mini bar in the room.suggest a table and chairs on the room balcony to relax. Pool also needs a revamp as seriously dated

This hotel is constrained by the boxy concrete design typical of the period in which it was built. Despite that, it could still be a good hotel quite easily. It has a good location in the heart of Kigali and a large swimming pool with terrace bar. Food at the poolside and in the upstairs Panorama is reasonable to good.... More

This hotel is very nice in most respects. But a gym is really important to me, and this hotel has the worst gym of any business-relevant or even tourist hotel I've stayed in, in the last 10 years. So this is a warning to those for whom fitness is a top priority. There is not a single good aerobic machine,... More
