This being my first visit to Niamey, I had no idea what to expect. Overall, the relatively large hotel seemed to have had its glory days which were long gone. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, however the room was old, had some damage in the bathroom and was not very clean. The hotel is located along the banks... More

Outdated big hotel, in desperate need of refurbishment. Everything looks used or poorly repaired. First night, arrived in the lmiddle in the night, I realized one sheet was missing in my bec. The room and bed were done without the cleaning guy realizing something was wrong. Extremely noisy airco in the rom. Personnel overall all right. Food in the buffet... More

Well, when I last visited Niamey in 1995, the Gaweye was the premier business hotel. It seems not to have been updated since then. It is quite run down and the public areas are not very clean. The rooms, however, are adequately clean though carpeting is old and paint not fresh. The air-conditioning was working but the room temperature was... More

Staying a week at the Gaweye is not a nice experience. Now, what is true is that there has been some efforts to improve the place. But, the hotel remains old, outdated with most of the amenities not functioning properly. A major issue is that the AC does not work properly. There is no gym - a major drawback and... More

The hotel is old and outdated. Most of the amenities are not functioning properly including the AC which is a big concern given the weather in Niamey. Stayed there for three nights and all one can say is that this hotel is in urgent need of upgrades. Also, it wasn't possible to pay the hotel bill with a credit card.... More

If you have to go to Niamey, and I recommend that you don't, you may consider staying at Hotel Gaweye because Grand Hotel du Niger is permanently fully booked. You will not be disappointed if your expectations are very, very, very low. You are in a very poor African country after all. Everything in this hotel looks tired. So does... More

This was my second stay in Hotel Gaweye. Compared to my first stay in December 2014, a lot has changed. Carpets, sofas, and all other aesthetic part of the hotel have changed. Even their main restaurant has finished renovation and now looking very new and clean. However, the rooms are still the same. It has that hotel feeling compared to... More

Good location if attending a meeting at the Palias Congress, otherwise not idea for a holiday. Noisy, poor internet connectivity, but very friendly staff though. Not up to standard for it's 4 star rating.
