I stayed at the Kalahari Sands in Windhoek in March 2009. Pros -- Spacious room with comfortable bed and soft sheets -- A/C in room -- TV with DSTV -- Nice lobby with casino and bar -- Located in a mall with grocery store, shopping, etc. -- Centrally located in Windhoek and within walking distance to the Craft Market (eat... more

I had a three night stay at the KS hotel in Feb 2009. The lifts are still "under repair" so I was pleased to have a 4th floor room and could use the stairs. I was staying with a group who had a room block of ~10 rooms and the joke at dinner was: "What's wrong in your room?!" as... more

I have stayed at Kalahari Sands twice. Both times, the lifts have not been working properly resulting in long waiting times - which can be as long as 15 minutes. The property is undergoing some sort of refurbishment, which caused some noise during the day. Otherwise, the hotel is very quiet and peaceful. The rooms I have stayed in were... more

It all started at the reception area when we arrived. The ladies were arrogant and very impatient with us.The reception we got was very very unwelcoming. We booked into the "luxury room".Okay, the room was quite nice, big and well kept.We headed out to the resturant for dinner.None of the waiters even gave us a smile.we had to ask to be served with a... more

I was booked into the Kalahari Sands by my company - as a big customer i think we get a very good rate! Looking at the website, having stayed at other Sun International Hotels (Gabrone Sun) and looking at thier in house booklet I thought the hotel would be of a high standard and well maintained. You will notice that... more

I believe this is the place to stay in Windhoek. Also my embassy uses the hotel for their guests. This high-rise hotel is located in a good shopping center including a grocery store. The location of the hotel is very central, all sights and shopping is within very close walking distance, including also South African Airways town office. During my... more

Some time ago i was very sad about the Kalahari Sands after having stayed there with a group of clients last February. I wrote a rather negative review about the service and the elevators and some other stuff. Today I am happy to tell you that i think the hotel is back on the good track. I stayed at the... more

The reviews show that the Kalahari Sands has changed since I was last there. It is located right downtown in Windhoek, since I was there on business I found the location to be great. It is a bit weird walking into the hotel because it is located in a shopping mall which is not what you normally expect. There is... more

This hotel is an OK place to start or finish your tour of Namibia, but it is definitely for passing through. It's a typical 'corporate' hotel which, once you're inside could be anywhere. Having said that it does its job pretty well, being in the town centre and OK for the airport. When we were there 2 out of 3... more
