Stayed for 5 days with two of us plus a 16 month old baby. Staff were super nice to the baby always. Room had a few not unexpected flaws (safe locked open, one window can't close...). Shower is good with loads of hot hot water. Chinese restaurant is not bad. Western one is a bit rougher (don't expect to love... More

Out of other hotels nearby, this is probably the most affordable for what you get. I didn't have any trouble with Wifi, in fact it was pretty good. My room was clean, however the towels are a bit worn. The local staff were very friendly and were always keen to go out of their way to make my stay more... More

Stayed at the Peacock for 2 weeks in Nov/Dec 2015, I was positively surprised about the warm welcome and the friendliness of the local staff, who made my stay there worthwhile, having experienced much worse places around Africa.....this was a personal highlight. Then the downsides, after almost one week all the little hick-ups came to light, which you do not... More

Though over-priced, it offers a very quite undistracted and comfotable stay. Room wifi signal is too weak and you have to go to the lobby to send messages. Have a designated block for smoking which makes it comfortable for non-smokers. The menu for room service is rather limited. Has a gym and a massage room which is ideal for people... More

Nice hotel, bit fancy but ok, Clearly chinese owned from the service to the equipment. But the staff compensates the chinese rules. Would be nice to have more hospitality with a bar. spacious rooms. Big bathroom with great shower.

On the plus - the rooms are large and quiet. No unnecessary bands or music which is always welcome and the food choice was great for breakfast and lunch. On the negative - carry your own soap (I got mine on the 2nd night); internet works only sometimes and expect some shoddiness: my teapot was not washed after the first... More

You cannot escape the fact that this hotel is owned and run by the Chinese. From the check-in to the hotel signage Chinese is the first language. The local staff are pleasant and always trying to help. But you got the impression sometimes that they were not sure what they were meant to do. But when we asked for help... More

the hotel was disappointing, the restaurant hardy had any choice of drinks an over my few days stay here I never got my first choice, they only have 7 menus so I was made to wait 30min before a group on a separate table ordered, the manager was difficult to get hold of and I was told on two occasions... I recently stayed at the Golden Peacock with my family. Being the last night of our holiday having travelled around Malawi for 9 days it was a welcome to have lovely hot water, modern room and wifi. However, once I'd settled in to such luxuries that is where the positives end. The porter staff upon our arrival, however, were very... More

We were disappointed with most aspects of this hotel with the local staff being the only plus! The carpets in the corridors and rooms were filthy to the extent that slippers were needed inside your room. The plumbing was atrocious and toilets did not flush properly. Most puzzling was the chines electrical plugs!! The chinese managers were surly and did... More
