I was quite impressed with this place: friendly staff, decent prices, a large and clean room, an excellent restaurant on-site (Le Saka), and a good location. Also very easy to convert Euros to local currency here (much easier than having to go through the excessive bureaucracy required at a bank, and safer than using the black market touts). Only downside... More

The Sakamanga is a great hotel. From the moment you turn right into the hotel you enter a kind of museum with all kinds of memorabilia. Then, as you follow the staff to your room, remember which way to take as the hotel spreads out behind through all kinds of alleyways and buildings. The rooms differ in the hotel: from... More

This place is a great value - big rooms and they can add an extra bed into the room for a small charge. Very clean, good food, a pool and spa services available. It is safe and close to the train station.

Very nice hotel. Clean rooms, great food (also for breakfast, which is rare in Madagascar). The cheaper rooms are quite small, but the whole site is very nicely done, a true oasis in a very hectic city. Great place to start a trip in Madagascar.

Sakamanga is wonder in that chaotic city. Walk in from busy street and you enjoy peace and safety. Green yard is super for relax. Different small bird species come to feed and sing into trees. Lèspace Jardin is very nice place for breakfast and also for dinner. Pizza was one of the best I ever had. Saka restaurant serves very... More

My reaction to our room - after a 14hr flight and harrowing car ride through the capital city, "Tana" was: Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had no expectations however even if I had there would have been no disappointment on my part. I was taken by both the intimate charm and the craftsmanship of the designer. The materials... More

Nice staff at the reception, immaculate rooms with wood floors and stone bathrooms, a gorgeous Zen pool in the middle of the courtyard, a renowned restaurant connected, AND a delicious pizzeria next door! We stayed here 3 times between flights and it felt like coming home. We couldn't get enough of the pizza champetre (which... More

We were spending two nights at the hotel before traveling to visit the Lemur Project in Marojejyi National Park. We were very pleasantly surprised with the hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. Amenities included free wireless internet, breakfast in a lovely cafe downstairs, and a nice french press coffee and hot pot. There was adequate water (hot as well).... More
