.. as summed up by a fellow traveller from Bedford!! Roger, you are so right. We arrived at the River Camp after a day stuck in Tana due to a few difficulties. It was our honeymoon and we started with a few airport issues beyond anyone's control. The only way is up they say and it certainly was. Ok, it... More

A very small and intimate camp, fantastic views over the river, great food and friendly atmosphere. To have all of this in such a remote area really is something special. The activities are exciting, walking in the sacred forests to learn more about the local beliefs and spotting Lemurs jumping between the trees really was an awesome experience. Seeing how... More

After driving 3 and a half hours over pot holes, we arrived at Mandrare river camp, only to find it wasn't really a camp with a central clearing as you'd expect, but a series of tents in the bank of the river, under the trees, so the insects rained down on us 24/7. With pretty nice views across the river,... More

Dear Lizzie, Many thanks for your feedback as regards your stay with us, I am very happy that you gave us 5 stars for service despite having an average overall stay. I apologise that not all aspects of your stay were as you expected and I have reviewed your points and corrected many areas raised. Madagascar is famous for its... More

Worth a visit. Very different and great tours. Edward and his team couldn't have been more helpful.

We arrived at thr River Camp after travelling in Africa for 5 weeks. We were ready for some relaxation. Upon arrival we were met by Edward, the owner, with a cool drink and a tour of our accommodation. It was quiet, luxurious and was more than we could possibly have wished for. The scenery was stunning, unspoiled loveliness. Our meals... More

This is a magical place. The service is excellent. The food is divine and the white wine is chilled. Our every need was anticipated and catered for in a most welcoming environment. The guides have an encyclopidic knowledge of the wild life and delighted our family by tracking and finding every animal we wanted to see. If it wasn't so... More

A 4 hour bumpy, but very interesting drive from Fort Dauphin. But arriving here is fabulous. A Small piece of woodland hides the 12 tents, each with a view over the Mandrare river. The tents are African safari style. Ours was comfortable with 3 four poster single beds, each with a mossie net. We travelled with our 6 year old... More

I must admit, I wasn't happy when I was told we were leaving Manfiafy for camp, but when we arrived, I was stopped in my tracks by the most wonderful scene ever - one of the locals was down by the river singing the most enchanting song and we were sat on our veranda taking in all the fresh air... My wife and I loved this place! The large comfortable tents with ensuite bathrooms look out over the river. We sat on our deck and listened to people singing and playing in the water, sourrounded by birds in the trees and feeling totally secluded. Ed and all the staff were very friendly, approachable and helpful and led us on some... More

With wonderful views over the Mandrare river, the 6 Luxury tents have adjoining large well decorated bathroom with quality shampoos, soaps shower gel and mosquito cream. There's permanent hot water and lights from solar panel power. Electronic devices need to be charged at the main house from 5pm to 10pm. The lodge is eco-friendly with trees being planted to attract... More
