If you are looking for lots of old world charm, this is the place, an old colonial house converted to a hotel with high ceilings and tight bathrooms added for modern convenience. Look for a room on a high floor both to avoid the squeaky floorboards of the rooms above and for the great views toward the rova if you're... More

The hotel is so quaint and the rooms are very spacious. A 40-minute massage is included and all the staff members are very polite, helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this quirky hotel for those on business or leisure.

Le pavillon de l'emyrne is a cute little b&b close by the tourist sights, good friendly staff that helped with booking cabs for dinner outing. They offer free massages every day from five to eight pm although I did not have time to try it out. Room was cute though at two in the morning, it got a bit noisy... More

We stayed in the Pavillon de l'Emyrne for 3 nights on our way to and from Tsarabanjina Island. We were there already 6 years ago and again we were not disappointed. This is a real colonial gem with typical architecture, wooden fittings and antiques. The location is just perfect in the old part close to the Lac and good restaurants... More

Very good location near the old town in a beautiful old house. Individual rooms nicely furnished but all a bit tired. A heavy curtain rail fell off in our room and we had a couple of other minor problems. However the continental breakfast is the best we have ever had and the staff excellent.

Our tour operator moved us from another hotel (before we arrived) and we were really pleased. We ended up with a room right at the top of the stairs, with a lovely view, high ceilings and beautiful French furnishings. The building itself is an old French-sytle home, rickety wooden stairs (hence better to be on the top floor if you... More

We stayed just one night on our way to Anjajavy lovely room in a nice location. No evening meal provided but within a short walk of loads of restaurants and hotel arranged us a taxi to take us and wait whilst we had our meal in a restaurant a taxi ride away.

Had a very nice stay here in this wonderfully atmospheric old colonial building. Beautifully apponted rooms with en suite facilities. There is a lovely garden and I did think they were missing a trick by not selling drinks during the day. As with everywhere in Madagacar the staff were a delight. The buffet breakfasts were top notch. No evening meals... More

I'm not sure our experience was typical but considering we paid UK three star hotel prices we were not thrilled. We were in room 14, in annexe not main building, which may explain why there was not enough hot water to wash our faces let alone shower (it was a trickle at best). Eventually had to go to another room... More

Of all the hotels we stayed in during our trip around Madagascar this turned out to be the best. A bit surprising since it's not ranked as a luxurious one. But perhaps that's actually why, no snobbish feeling and you can tell that they really enjoy serving their guests. The hotel is an old charming villa that has a very... More
