Stayed two nights at the Ankober because the neighboring Wutma and Baro were full. Friendly and welcoming staff. They let me check in at 10:00 am after a long flight! Mattresses are all spring with little cushion, but they were clean (no bugs!). Multiple power points. Wifi is from the neighboring hotel and only available in a corner of the... More

During the forth day among my five days of staying there, my iPhone was stolen from my room. The owner didn't fully take the responsibility for this (although he enabled me to stay one more day for free inc. paying for breakfast on the day after). If I could complete it formally I would do it, but I had then... More

Centraly located, cheap guesthouse with friendly, English speaking staff. The rooms are basic and run down but clean and they have hot water. Mattresses are old and uncomfortable. Rooms are far from street noise. Okay for transit.

We stayed here 2 nights and should have changed hotels but it was 4:30AM and we were leaving again in 12 hours. The place was filthy and disgusting. The first room stank - we think the sheets were clean because we saw him put them on but I don't think the room had been cleaned since the place opened. The... More

When I got back to Addis from Lalibela, I went to Baro next to this hotel and found that water supply was stopped. No shower after a long and dusty trip! Next morning I moved to this hotel and could have a hot shower as expected. Very clean and super bright rooms compared to the dark and dingy ones at... More

Stayed here twice during a visit to Ethiopia. Clean but very basic rooms. Bathroom was clean enough, however no hot water. This wasn't a problem for me. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good stopover hotel. Restaurant across the road is worth a visit too.

Rooms were kept clean daily. Friendly ladies at reception with a good command of English. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with our own bathroom. The water was cold throughout our stay regardless of the fact that I have reported it throughout our stay. The maintenance guy came to our room twice but to no avail, thus not a... More

Very cheap, something like $20/night. Unfortunately not super close to the airport, but the reception guy was very helpful in calling me a taxi to the airport at 4AM. The internet works fine but is only accessible in one corner of the parking lot so you kind of have to squat over there. The room was acceptable, though I did... More

I stayed at the Ankober for two nights in October 2012, after opting out of our tour operator's choice (the Taitu, which I absolutely do not recommend). It's a small place, about 10-15 rooms, which makes for a personal atmosphere. No problems with cleanliness of the rooms or the public areas, and the shower was a miracle for a guest... More

We spent three nights in Ankober and were very satisfied. After horrible stay in Taitu hotel (which supposed to be the most famous in the area, the oldest etc.) Ankober was just a paradise! A bit cheaper and hundred times cleaner than the cleanest room in Taitu hotel!!!! Very friendly and helpful stuff, fluent in English. You can try to... More
