I stayed in the Intercontinentaladdis for 6 night in August '15 on a business trip. The hotel itself isn't part of the Intercontinental chain, it's independent. It advertises itself as 5*. The hotel will be 5* by Ethiopian standards, but if you're used to the Western world's standard of 5* then you may be disappointed. The hotel itself is clean,... More

Addis Ababa gets more popular in recent years due to the support of World Bank and global textile companies. If you visit here first time, this hotel can make you feel safe in comfort. Try to arrange the airport pickup and drop by hotel.

Not a real Intercon but not a bad copy, remember this is Addis. The food is OK, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable - the WiFi works intermittently as do the telephones - remember this is Addis, I was at a conference at the much more expensive Sheraton bit it was no... I stayed two nights at this hotel in January 2015. The rooms are large (for Addis hotels) and receive lots of sunlight. I was on a high floor and my room was quiet. I found the staff friendly. I ordered room service one time and it was good. I sent a large amount of clothing out to be cleaned and... More

First of all, this hotel is not related to the Intercontinental hotels that we all know. The local people told me it's a "fake intercontinental hotel." Secondly, the hardware, i.e. the building, rooms, facilities is pretty old and only deserves a three star rating. However, the staff deserves another star that make up the whole hotel. I will start with... More

Between my coworker and myself, we spent a total of 75 nights at this hotel. And while I understand that most people won't stay that long, and won't experience all the interesting things we did, I would like to inform you of the worst that can happen to you at the Intercontinentaladdis. First of all, this hotel is not part... More

Our Ethiopian based travel company has chosen great hotels on our behalf-apart from this one. A banner in the lobby pronounces a "best hotel in Africa" award- I find that hard to believe. The room door appeared to have been forced at some stage, making it tricky to lock. The shower was tepid at best, the wifi didn't work, the... More

I absolutely enjoyed my stay at the Intercontinental Addis Hotel. The staff were very friendly and courteous. In fact very helpful indeed, in whatever you asked them. Having seen the lack of professionalism and poor customer care at some other hotels in Addis, I was very impressed.I highly recommend it.

I believe this is billed (and priced) as a 5 Star hotel. That results in expectations, which, as others have noted, simply are not met. The biggest failing was the Internet. As others have noted, it was inconsistent. Sometimes it worked just fine (I am writing this on the hotel WIFI.) Other times it was down, and few things are... More

It is sort of ok, in particular when you landed in the worst hotel ever, the grand yordanos, from where we escaped. Food is ok, average, nothing special. Same with the coffee. The breakfast is ok but been in much better intercontinental hotels in the world where the variety was much more than this one, as well as the quality.... More
