Ras Amber may not have the glitz of the Hilton or the Sheraton but for a fraction of the price you get a decent room with a balcony and views over the city. The food is ok and breakfast is a buffet of cakes biscuits toast and local fruit. The room cleaners are amazing and for just a few pounds... More

The hotel is a little worn out and the interior is not particularly exciting, but rooms have balconies with nice views over the city and the rooftop eating area is pleasant. The bathroom showers could do with some refurbishing though, and the tv was mounted at an odd angle relative to the bed. All in all, relatively good value for... More

Although we did not stay at the hotel, we were referred to its restaurant. Good call!!!! A very enjoyable experience, well worth the walk UP the numerous steps. The outdoor balcony, where we dined, offered a great view of the city. The food was good, as well as the service. Very friendly, and helpful considering our lack of local language... More

By Western standards this is a basic hotel in Addis which is clean and comfortable. Great food, brilliant helpful staff, in a good location. Excellent views over the city from the roof top bar. Free wifi is a definite bonus. I had a very pleasant stay here and would recommend to anyone who would like a comfortable room without having... More

The people of Addis Ababa are fantastic but the infrastructure is just hanging on. By far the best feature of the Ras Amber, in my opinion, is the friendly and helpful staff and manager. I was always greeted with a smile and staff always offered me good advice. The hotel rooms are clean and functional, but very basic. I had... More

Stayed here for about 10 nights on two separate occasions. Very friendly and helpful, especially when I was briefly ill. Rooms are clean with small ensuites and balconies. It has great views across Addis Ababa and lots of Kites and Buzzards soar past (I like watching birds). The hotel restaurant is fine, offering mainly european type dishes. The hotel hosts... More

We stayed here 3 nights....3 nights too many. It's not the best hotel in Addis - you'll find a lot better, but the location isn't bad and is in walking distance of the few main points of interest. Rooms are very basic as is the hotel, and food isn't great. It was ok, but definitely not recommended.

If you want to stay somewhere nice, not overly fancy, but where the locals eat, drink and stay, stay at the Ras Amba. The rooms are small, as are the bathrooms, but the great staff, and all the local happenings make up for it. There were 6 weddings whilst were there (on 2 separate occasions) none of them disturbed us,... More

This hotel, in the vicinity of Arrat Kilo in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, has a wonderful roof terrace with functioning Wifi. The roof also houses a space for parties and Conferences and a comfortable Indoor bar. You can have meals on the terrace. The regular restaurant is one floor down. "Ferenji" (foreigner) fare is alright but there is little in the... More
