A hi-quality hotel, I'd guess the best in the country. Rooms are spacious, well-appointed & comfortable. Water is hot (not always a given in Eritrea from past experience). All staff are attentive & professional. There are in & outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts & a fitness suite. The two restaurants are good. Breakfast buffet is satisfactorily good. Service on the... More

This hotel is very close to the airport, so if you get to Asmara on a late flight or fly out early this is a good place to stop. A buffet breakfast is typically included in the room price. The food includes, omelettes, pastries, fruits, coffee and juice. Wait staff are quite nice and super friendly. Rooms are decent and... More

I struggled whether to give this hotel 4 or 3 stars. First, the pros: the pools are great, the food is serviceable, and some of the staff are warm and helpful. The location is ok as you are closer to the airport but away from town. The hotel has a nice garden and brunch buffet was enjoyable. We felt safe... More

I didn't sleep in this hotel, but I spent two days there for a workshop. It seems pretty desolate, hardly anyone populating the rather vast spaces. The workshop facilities are good and service in that department excellent. Why I am really writing this review is the restaurant. I ate there three times. Three times I asked if I could have... This is a hotel which definitely could you some upgrading in the rooms. The lobby is very lively all the time. It definitely looks like the local hangout place. The rooms are spacious but just ok. The staff is supper nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet is horrible not much of a choice. Service in all resturants is sloooow. We... More

An ok hotel that is past its prime because of the situation in the Eritrea. It has 2 heated pools - one indoor and one outdoor that are often in need of cleaning. The rooms are pretty good and the restaurant food ranges from good to basic depending on what food is available.

I rate the hotel as the surprise package of my visit to Eritrea. They do their best under difficult circumstances to maintain the facilities. Lets face it, under the severe sanctions and isolation of the country they do a splendid job to provide good service. I was impressed by the building, facilities and room. The staff was always friendly and... More

Great facilities, friendly staff and well appointed rooms made this a pleasure for our transit. Only downfall is that the wi-fi is rather shocking and the prices in the restaurant very high. Compared to other hotels in the city this is a palace and the only true 'international' hotel.

The Asmara Palace is the former Intercontinental Hotel, so it was built to international standards and struggles mightily to maintain them. I have no doubt it is the best hotel in Asmara, but that's setting a pretty low bar -- it would be 3 stars in the real world. It is clearly the local hangout for both expatriates patronizing the... I've been there 4 times last year and I spent more than 3 months in 2013. Rooms are not well cleaned, dust is everywhere (I ask many time for vacuum cleaner without success), air conditionning is not working properly, no Internet or very slow connection (less than 1kb/s) or no connection at all, and from time to time no hot...
