I was staying at the Merina for 4 days at the end of May 2011, after we returned from a 8 day trip traveling in Cameroon on a mining scoping trip. The Merina was a very nice welcome after a tough trip, and some very bad hotels.

Merina is centrally located. The reception staff is accommodating and friendly. The restaurant staff leaves something to be desired. Everything worked including the AC. Hotel seems well enough maintained. I would stay there again.
WiFi did not work for my Mac, though they made an honest effort to help and provided accommodation to use a fixed line internet connection.

As a tour leader of a Hungarian group we faced a lot of difficoulties in this hotel. The kitchen delayed with the ordered dinner in every evening about 1-1,5 hours.
