We were staying in Bujumbura on our way to visit a project in DRCongo and were planning to meet up with a number of people while we were there. Botanika was ideal. Central, with a semi outdoor restaurant, shady under the trees and with birds flitting round. All our meetings fitted in really well and it was easy to offer... More

I stayed at the Botanika for five nights recently while in Bujumbura for work. The hotel is in a very convenient central location and easy to get to and from. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the food at the restaurant was good. The ambience of the place is very nice. As per some of the other reviews... More

Stayed at the Hotel Botanika for 3 nights in May 2014. Rooms are clean but small, as others have said, with a very strange layout. Excellent restaurant downstairs, very nice breakfasts (croissants and french bread to die for) and dinner. Would go back. Helpful and friendly staff, speak English, nice music.

After reading pervious reviews, I was very excited to stay at Botanika and even though it was slightly more expensive than I'd hoped to spend, I decided to treat myself. Unfortunately, it wasn't what I'd hoped. In terms of the food - this place was excellent. I had one of the best meals I've ever eaten in Africa and highly... More

Rooms were small but pretty cool. Great shower! Really great restaurant and delicious breakfast! The restaurant is BYOW and the breakfast serves food from cafe gourmand. Downside, only have wifi in the restaurant. Staff were very helpful and went out of their way to fix our tv on Easter Sunday.

About as good as it gets if you want to be in the center of this town. Botanika one of those rare places found in Africa only in the Francophone (and Belgique) lands. Hotel is small, rooms on second floor -- 5 or so on side corridor (all the same), two rooms in front adjacent to office and facing street... More

Botanika is what you want from an hotel when visiting Bujumbura for work or holidays: it is affordable, very clean, with very very good food and friendly & helpful staff. There are only a few rooms and a lovely garden/restaurant area. The only downside is the night club on the other side of the road that may keep you awake... More

Hotel Botanika has everything a traveler in Africa needs or desires: comfortable spacious room, free WI-FI, good selection of news and movie channels on nice flat screen TV, in room fridge, laundry service, cappuccino or espresso, and croissants for breakfast, good shower, A/C, plenty of closet space, mosquito net, friendly and accommodating staff, sensational restaurant in an attractive setting, good... I ended up eating there five times in one week. Food excellent every time. And the prices are very reasonable -- 16000-18000BIF for mains. You can buy wine by the glass, which admittedly isn't cheap but not is it extortionate. The one dud was the 'Tarte du jour'; avoid it, it is shockingly bad. An uninspiring pastry base with your... We stayed here two nights as individual travellers after some shopping around and weighing central location vs. value-for money. After all, Buj is relatively expensive given the local price and income levels. Very balanced offer overall. You will get cheaper in Buj, but not in this location and not in this quality level. And you will get more (much more)... More
