I was given a really small room with a tiny shower room. No change was accepted ! The room is just basic. No frills. Not even a complimentary water bottle. The shower room is so tiny that I frequently bumped on the sanitary wares. The 1st day the shower room got overflooded and for the next day I have to... More

3.9 STARS, MAX This four star hotel costs F 100,000, rack rate, or about $200, but we paid F 52,000 at the UN rate, bed & breakfast. The 50 year old structure is beginning to show signs of aging. So did I when I was 50. The phone in my room received but did not send calls. The waitress who... More

Rooms are very clean (decor is a bit dated). Staff will do absolutely everything in their power to satisfy your requests (my boss is very picky, and they changed his room 3 times until we found something satisfactory). Gym is minimal, but has enough basic equipment to get the job done (they even have a ConceptII rower!). The pool is... More

I have stayed at this hotel three times in the past four years during the dry season and I have been generally satisfied with the experience. The rooms on the second and third floor in the Annex are fine, and the beds comfortable. No problems re water supply and electricity. Band-width still too slow to watch "Youtube". Breakfast buffet expensive... More

The rooms on the ground floor at the far end of the pool are terrible and should be avoided at all cost. They are infested with mosquitoes, are not clean, are extremely cramped; TV and other amenities such as air conditioning don't work consistently; not all rooms are equipped with mosquito nets; and are not up to the standard of... One of the best hotels in Africa I have stayed in. The hotel is clean and very well managed. The pool is great to hang out in during the day or at night. Its only walking distance from some places. It's in a great place in town and not far out from anyplace.

First of all, you're in Ouagadougou - a vibrant and exciting town. Chances are, you won't be spending too much time at the hotel. The Azalai is good enough: it's close to the airport (though everything is), there's a pool, there's a nice poolside bar, there are plenty of shops where you can buy knickknacks and, well, that's about it.... I always stay in this hotel at least twice every three months whenever I travel for a roster break. I'm not sure if this is the best hotel in Ouagadougou but our company always book us here. I like its building and the exterior itself because it looks like just wall and only when you get closer that you'll realize... More

I’m writing this from the Hotel Azalai Independence – been here for 3 days now… The hotel has been hugely renovated in the last few years (it needed it) and is now one of the 2-3 nice larger downtown hotels in Ouaga. I’ll compare it to the Splendid hotel – another one of the higher-end large hotels in Ouaga. The... More
