This is a first rate hotel in every respect but one. The front desk service was excellent, from check-in,/ check-out, currency exchange, to providing AC adapters, and any other service a front desk provides. The general staff was professional, and genuinely nice. Both restaurants , Savuti Grill and Mahogany provided good food and good service. The breakfast, included in our... more

I just recently stayed in a Sun property in Windhoek. The Gabarone Sun trumps it considerably! The rooms were quite large with a comfortable bed (even if it was two twins pushed together), A/C, and a decent closet. The bathroom looked new, even if it was shower only. Internet is expensive and must be paid for, which is a downer.... more

Looks like a motel from the outside, but is probably best hotel in Gaborone. Pool area and bar and restaurant are quite good. more

Sun International have really dropped the ball at the Gaborone Sun. For a high end chain they appear to have forgotten about Gaborone. Housekeeping and service were pretty much non existent. The bathroom was filthy and towels non existent - even after repeated calls to reception. The aircon had not been activated. Service in the restaurant was poor at best... more

There were two of us staying at this hotel. Check-in was very fast and easy, however when we arrived at the room, the door was open and there was a big fan in the middle of the floor. Apparently, some water had seeped in from outside during a rainstorm, so they were drying the carpet. We were moved to another... more

I was booked into the Sun on a business trip. The hotel was fairly easy to find and centrally located (although a long walk from anywhere - fine for driving as most people do). The complex is well maintained and clean. With ample parking. Reception was helpful and welcoming and a fast check in. The room was large and comfortable... more

We had two short stays in Gaborone, and for our first three-day stay we chose the Gaborone Sun. The Gaborone Sun is one of the older establishments in Gaborone, but the rooms are kept in good shape. The wooden room doors can be sometimes a little squeaky, but you have to look at that as a part of the old... more

I agree with most of Anniejet's (3/18/08) comments. The good service, the well maintained public amenities, the quality of food, and the friendly staff were are all there. Anniejet is also right about the hotel's location, the walk to the main mall and the government buildings is not more than 30 minutes. The walk to Riverwalk Mall seemed much longer... more

Upon our arrival the desk clerk upgraded our room to a deluxe room in the Mapone building. Our room was lovely, immaculate, and significantly larger than the standard rooms (also full tubs and kingsize beds). Employees came by several times asking if there were any problems and when we mentioned the few we experienced...an outlet didn't work, stronger light bulbs... more

Fine hotel located near town, not in town. You will need a cab to get anywhere as you would if you stayed at its main rival, the Grand Palm aka Waldorf Ambassador. But unlike the Grand Palm, the Sun does have taxi cabs at the ready on the property. The Grand Palm is further out but it is a much... more
