Really nice rooms, amazing, very helpful staff and fast reliable internet. Really enjoyed the old school hotel feel and the focus on the welfare of the guest. Food is decent and there is a nice variety of meal options.

Hello Troy. Thank you for your four-star review and for rating our happy staff as "amazing." Indeed, our staff are our most potent USP that almost every guest comments on. At all levels all our staff relish their roles and their genuine warmth makes our guests' stay so much more enjoyable. We are all gearing up for our centenary year... More

Although we are long term Zimbabwe residents wife and I had our first a very relaxing and pleasant one night stay at Meikles (now 99 years as Harare's best known hotel) on a Friday night in December 2014. It was a last minute decision and I receveived a prompt reply to my email request for a reservation for a room... More

Thank you for your in-depth review and for evaluating the distinct advantages for guests staying at Meikles as opposed to out-of-town lodges. For business people, of course, Meikles has the supreme location in Harare but you also point out the merits for other guests, such as the mall and cinema just a few minutes walk away. And yes, with our... More

We stayed in the Meikles during a large convention of Jehovah's witnesses in August 2014. They were completely packed, but made every effort to make sure we were all comfortable and well cared for. The restaurant offers a buffet with a variety of meats and side dishes. The staff were friendly and courteous. It is a lovely old-style but very... More

Thank you Nancy, You rate Meikles as "gracious" and so is your review. We all really enjoy it when our guests review Meikles with such warmth as this is certainly what we endeavour to do from the moment anyone walks in the door. Tinashe Munjoma (General Manager). More

People in Harare are generally very friendly. I first visited Harare in 1980. This is my second visit. You wonder how the staff maintain their smile throughout the day. It is so natural. My first encounter was with the Porter who was extremely helpful. I still remember his name as Denis. The lady at the reception desk was smiles all... More

What a tonic at the end of the year! Thank you for your generous praise and five-star review that focuses on the friendly nature of the Zimbabwean people. As you say this is a genuine attribute that almost every visitor comments on so positively. Indeed, we are hoping that Trip Advisor will do one of their famous surveys and this... More

I think the Meikles is steeped in tradition, have an excellent location with great staff and good food. The La Fontaine evening buffet was amazing and simply the best “cream of mushroom” soup I ever had. Don’t understand me wrong; the Meikles is not bad. I just believe that my experience wasn't truly 5 stars, and there are much cheaper... More

Thank you Julian for your review. You start with glowing accolades about the proud tradition of Meikles; the excellent food; great staff and top location but then mention a few elements where we apologise that our normal basic procedures appear to have been breached. We have taken full note of each item and have addressed them at our management meeting,... More

Very kind Reception and Guests Services, nice rooms (stayed in the old building at good rate). The restaurant was only OK. Many wines on winelist were not available. Its easier to ask which they actually have. The menu does not seem to change at lot (same last year). The buffet was the best option. Good internet connection. Overall a nice... More

Thank you for taking the time to post your four-star review and for highlighting the friendliness of our staff that always counts for a lot and is a precious asset. It is heartening to see you rate the south wing rooms as "nice" because this wing has not yet been restyled like the north wing which is now proudly world... More

Considering the state of the economy, the international sanctions etc, it was a good hotel, food was good, breakfast was excellent, location was perfect overlooking a park and the Parliament. Just one tip: dont pay a sizeable deposit in cash. It will take forever for them to return it due to shortages of USD in the market. I waited for... More

We can't ask for better than "good hotel....good food....excellent breakfast....perfect location." Thank you. I am sorry you experienced delays in receiving your cash refund, but assure you this is not an endemic issue at our hotel. We almost always have sufficient cash on hand but maybe you hit just "one of those days" and I apologise for the undue inconvenience... More

Meikles is a legendary hotel in Harare. Which famous personality visiting Harare has not chosen for this hotel over the past 100 years? I (not famous at all) stayed here for just 1 night in November 2014. The primary reason for staying at Meikles was that I wanted to try this hotel with such long history. I stayed in one... More

Hello to you in Holland. I am truly saddened that your quest to experience the illustrious history of Meikles Hotel Harare was not optimised. What a great pity you did not take a look at the refashioned North Wing rooms as they are spectacular and our US$9m upgrade late last year also included all public areas. Yes, Sunday is often... Hello Ramsay. Thanks for taking the time to post a review, albeit a very brief and confusing one. I would highly value a one-on-one meeting with you or perhaps a phone call so that you may expand on your rather stark statement..."not sure why it is going down." A little detail about this perception would be greatly valued as the... More

I found this hotel to be a warm and welcoming place to stay in Harare. My second visit this year - the staff are very friendly, rooms clean, good breakfast and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Harare. There are small issues that could be improved, such as waiting too long to check in. There's something appealing about an... More

Thank you Andrew for such a positive review of your stay at Meikles Harare.
