I stayed here for 4 nights based on the Conde Nast Traveler recommendation from a few months ago, but after booking, I became worried after reading a number of negative reviews. Upon arriving, the taxi called the hotel from the medina, & the hotel sent someone to get me. It was just a few minutes walk, and once I got... More

We were there three nights. Location in the Medina is great, but $140/night for a hotel that promises Wi-Fi and delivers none is absurd. (Some may say "You're in Tunisia, do you really need Wi-Fi?" Well, yes, if it's promised as part of the purchase price.) The cleaning staff was very nice. Our room was cute, if dark. The rooftop... More

Very very nice private hotel with great staff (apart from the owners who often hang about putting everyone else on edge) and lovely decor, rooms and bathrooms. The rooms are a bit dark, as one would expect in this traditional style house, and made worse by lights not working (bit of simple maintenance). Wi-Fi was supposedly available but basically dysfunctional.... More

I spent one night at the Dar El Medina with my family. We were given two rooms very far away from one another, in spite of having reserved in advance. The common areas did reek from smoke. On the evening of our arrival, we discovered that the rooms were not serviced, towels and toiletries were missing. The manager sort of... More

a beautiful magical place with very friendly staff. the location is very strategic during the day since it's in the heart of the medina, however a bit spooky at night once the shops close and the streets turn ghostly.

We spent 2 nights at the Dar El Medina at the end of a 2 week holiday travelling round Tunisia. The location was excellent in the middle of the Medina and it was quiet although it was very close to the souks. As described in the guidebooks, it is full of character but shared many problems with the Dar Said... More

Dar el Medina will not disappoint. It's location, a walk away from the souks of Tunis and in the Old Medina part of town is excellent. The staff are helpful, warm and welcoming. Breakfasts are set, traditional, and plentiful. I stayed in the room named Bibi. The room was comfortable with most of the mod cons to make the stay... More

Location - very good. inside the medina, close to Kasbah. You can wandering about the medina in the early morning or at night before mass tourists come. Service - Polite and accommodating. But you can feel that staff can not speak good English so that the communication is limited. Room - Well decorated with local characters. Attractive. Breakfast - although... More

The building is novel and the rooms and funishings could well be described as 'boutique'. But the service is lazy. Breakfast is a disgrace. At a time when Tunis market is full of delicious cheeses, vegetables, and fruit, breakfast at the Dar El Medina comprised a couple of slices of rubbery, processed (yes, processed) cheese, a couple of pieces of... We arrived here on our final night in Tunisia, wanting to splash out a bit, thinking it was where you could hang out and be seen. Even though there was an annual cultural festival going on in the area, the hotel was dead, we and another couple were the only one's there. Still, good service, just don't expect it to... More
