I am sure there are many places to stay in Tunis, but not in the Medina and since we wanted to stay in the heart of the Medina, this was one of our only options, but so worth it. The hotel itself is beautiful and although we did not have one of the expensive rooms, it was absolutely fantastic. Beautifully... More

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. I saw four different rooms, all lovely, all different. The staff was helpful. The breakfast was good, with good coffee, croissants, bread, coffee cake, eggs, cheese, and crudite. Also fresh orange juice. I did not eat dinner at the hotel. One evening I was not hungry enough... This is a nice small hotel well located in the Medina. The staff were friendly and helpful. But it is not worth the price - the rooms are small (e.g. not enough room for a bedside table in my room), there are no facilities (the door to the roof terrace was locked and it did not look like there was... The place is nice, but it is little more 'than a bed and breakfast: for the prices that are 200 euro per night in Tunisia is ... crazy! When we saw the room that we had thought we had given up and dropped a small room with nothing special, and we asked if we could see another room, we have... More

I am not sure that there is much point in reviewing Tunisian hotels at the moment but thought I should post something anyway. This hotel is in a wonderful position right in the medina of Tunis. It is quiet and comfortable but not luxurious. The staff are generally helpful but they do have some difficulty with English. The rooms are all... More

I stayed in the Dar El Medina on a short trip to Tunis with my wife and two sons (11 & 13). The hotel itself is stunning, a beautiful old building renovated to a high standard. Excellent rooms, clean and spacious, and the bathroom similarly clean with good water supply and fresh toiletries each day. Our rooms shared a courtyard... More

Tunis is not blessed with either large nice hotels or Riad-type alternatives, and the Dar el Medina is unique in the latter category (the competitor is in Sidi Bou Siad, the dar Said which is lovely but out of town although great for seeing sites around Carthage and there is a convenient train line into Tunis). Rooms are all different,... More

I stayed with my husband for two days at the Dar El Medina Hotel. On the phone they gave us a rate in Dirhams, as obvious in Tunisia, but at check out they said it was in Euros. Almost double the price! We had to call the police and at the end not having any proof on paper settled to... More

Me and my husband spent two nights in this hotel as part of our honeymoon. The hotel is very stylish, with antique furniture and attention to detail. We loved our room, very spacious with loads of character, and all staff have been nice and attentive - our favourite being Raja. Breakfast is lovely too. We arrived in Tunis around mid-day... More

whoever is a bit familiar with traditional mediterranean/moorish architecture knows that old buildings are based on a composition of narrow, high ceiling rooms, organized at various levels revolving around patios and inner courtyard. Those levels are connected by narrow, steep staircases. Henceforth some reasons of complaint by fellow travelers who probably expect something else. One can argue why, while reconverting... More
