I stayed for 3 nights at the Carlton. Okay, it's not a 5-star hotel like Laico of Africa, but costs one fifth of their price! Had a problem, of a constantly flushing toilet the first night, but altogether nothing else special to report. I chose it for its location (great) free wifi, and low price. Had a good mix of... more

Adequate, functional business hotel with no character. Rooms were fine, but no outstanding characteristics. Shower was poor (though there was hot water, at least). Location good (on Tunis's main drag, Ave Habib Bourguiba). Staff were aloof and not very helpful especially when we refused to leave our passports at reception. On departure the hotel did allow us to leave our... more

The hotel was ok, a bit pretentious. The room was clean but not especially spacious, the heating did not work and there was a dripping water tap in the bathroom while the staff acted as if they were serving us a Hilton accomodation... The location is very good - right on the main street, near the medina, walkable distance to... more

Stayed in this hotel during a short trip to Tunisia and picked it due to how central it claimed to be and fair pricing compared to other hotels around. And I don't think it could have been more suitable for my needs, Medina 5 minutes stroll, train station less than that and several great pavement cafes on the doorstep. Check-in... more

This is the letter sent to Hotel Carlton: We stayed at Hotel Carlton in May/June and were highly satisfied. We paid $65 us /day for two people and were so pleased with everything. Ms. Sonia, Ms. Zahia, Mr. Imed and the evening gentlemen staff were highly professional, most friendly and being multilingual, was truly helpful. The room was clean, very... more

I stayed for three nights and for found hotel to be excellent value and location. Unlike previous comments I found staff to be very friendly and helpful. They had a note of my request for quiet room and indeed had no problems with noise. Room was clean and comfortable and had no complaints. Breakfast was adequate with selection of bread... more

Stayed 1 night and that was enough. Arrived late departed early. Right on the main rd in Tunis. Paid £50 and would be disappointed if paid in the UK but as cheaper end of hotels, probably just satisfied. AIR CON wasn't working even though 30c. Seems to be a similar problem here, cannot open windows as too noisy. Room very... more

Was there for a 3 night stay. Air-conditioning was off as it is not summer season yet (according to front desk). If you keep the windows open the temperature is ok for sleeping, but that would fail to keep the noise out. Basic hygiene and amenities in rooms. Found a few stains on the bedsheets. However, this is a good... more

We stayed in this hotel on vacation in mid-April 2009, having booked in for three nights. On arrival, we found the reception staff rude and unhelpful. (They also expected to keep our passports). We were very disappointed with the room. It was very small, the bed was uncomfortable, the fittings were tired (it was described as rennovated - but we... more

I am Very sorry that these persons had a bad experience in our Hotel and i thank them for taking the time to inform us. However, their review is a little bit too tough. Please note that after reviewing our data, it turns out that our desk director (Mrs Sonia) suggested another room, that was refused by the customers. She...

We stayed 2 nights in Carlton Hotel after spending the previous night in a dreadful 2 star hotel just around the corner. There are other 3 start hotels near Carlton Hotel, but what makes this hotel different is the way the reception is professionally run in comparison. The service in the hotel is fairly good and the staff are very... more
