I felt I was at Disneyland, not because of the "fun" and the energy of the place, but because I felt the hotel wasn't real, that it somehow was part of a movie set. Turns out I was close, if I understand correctly what I was told and surmised. The hotel, along with other "five star" hotels, are in a... more

when you walk up to the dar cherait your breath is taken away. it is stunning. walking into the lobby is no less amazing. it's huge and stunning. the staff are all very helpful. however, the rooms are lackluster. it looked like a room you'd find at a motel on the highway in the united states. sparse, bad art. not... more

I found this hotel a lovely place to stay. The architecture is incredible; it used to be a Sultan's palace. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were fine. The food was OK, but the ambiance of the dining room was great. The adjoining Dar Cherait museum was very interesting. more

If you are visiting Tunisia in the heat of the summer, look to a more modern facility. This hotel is an attractive architectural curiosity, but if good air conditioning, a pleasant pool, or other modern conveniences are important to you, consider choosing a newer hotel. We found the staff unresponsive, the rooms dark and ugly, and the food mediocre. more

Very nice architechture and a pleasant room. Service was friendly but the bar was uncongenial. All in all, not worth the c.150 quid we paid for our room for one night. more

This hotel is a replica of a Sultan's palace out of 1001 nights. The architecture is unique inside and out. There is a huge domed ceiling, lace like walls, ornately carved walls and doors and an exotic garden. The adjoining Dar Chariat museum is also amazing. The rooms are spacious, however they have seen better days. On the down side.... more

W stayed at this hotel just one night , booking two rooms, and I am glad that was it. The hotel is certainly pretty - the architecture is great. But don't expect a 5 star quality of service, food, or accomodation. The rooms are dingy, there is soap scum and calcium build up in both of the bathrooms; carpeting, towels,... more

We had a very pleasant stay in this beautiful hotel last april. The hotel is superb with a nice garden and a very pleasant terrasse close the pool. Service and room are first class. The buffet restaurant is good and very quite. The tennis court is not well maintained and one seeking calm should consider booking a room overlooking the... more

This is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Tozeur. The hotel is far from the generic modern institutions with which we're all familiar. It has local character and charm with tiled courtyards and Near Eastern furnishings. Would happily return. more
