There was nothing really wrong with this lodge but it seemed a bit more run down than the others in the Sopa chain and the staff were a little more lackadaisical. The road up to it was rough even by African dirt road standards. I don't know if it was a private road but since there was nothing else up... More

Beautiful lodge located at the heart of central serengeti, another charming lodge of SOPA, visited the one in ngorongoro which was also very nice. really nothing bad to say, the only thing i would say is that the balconies of the rooms are really close, we had noisy neighbours which wasn't that nice. the bathroom and showers are stunning!!

We stayed for 2 nights during our 4 days safari and we were pleased with this hotel. They had, as do most African hotels, a warm welcome with delicious mango juice :) This lodge does not look great from the outside, as it's obvious that it hasn't been refurbished for quite some time, but the rooms are nice and spacious.... We stayed here for three nights in Sept. Our driver told us Serengeti Serena Lodge is in every way better than this lodge. Since we will have a large group come to Serengeti next year so we went to see the Serena lodge. We think almost in every way, Serengeti Sopa Lodge is better than Serengeti Serena Lodge. We prefer... We stayed here one night on the way from the northern Serengeti near the Mara River to the Ngorongoro Crater and. given the other reviews, were not surprised to find this large hotel overlooking trees and a distant plain. The large lobby and our room were very dark. The large, dark room (#36) had two double beds with mosquito netting... More

LOCATION: It takes a good 30-45 minutes to get there from the Serengeti as it is up a very steep and rocky hill, but the view is fantastic. ROOMS: Hot water runs in the evening and morning for 3 hour time blocks, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff is great if you are there for a special... More

Very typical Sopa Lodge. A very warm welcome awaits you after a dusty day of travel, the staff in almost all the places we travelled in Africa are there to please and it was no different here. Yes, there is constant tipping, but really its only a dollar or two but with drinks at less than happy hour prices, you... More

We had a wonderful stay here, the service was excellent, well it should be as you have to tip for everything!! Nonetheless it was very welcoming, food was great, the view from the restuarant was amazing, watching elephants on the Serengeti while eating breakfast!!! Awesome. The rooms were gorgeous and the shower was great. Our favourite of the three Sopa... More

Was lovely to be close enough to hear the animals calling at in night unlike most Sopa lodges which seem set back a fair way from the animal action. Staff were extremely friendly & welcoming & nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were comfortable & food quality & choice were both excellent- was a buffet one night & a set... More

This was the best hotel we stayed at while on safari. It was a nice change from the Seronera Wildlife Lodge, which had been a major disappointment the night before. The staff at Sopa was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were enormous and had amazing views of the Serengeti. The shower was the best shower we had in our... More
