This place was good for a tented camp. As a threshold issue, the problem we had with this place, which may have been our problem with all luxury tented camps, is that your room is effectively a luxury hotel room. Basically you are renting a luxury hotel room surrounded by canvas instead of typical walls. The main benefit as far... more

The location in the Serengeti was fine, the tents were lovely inside, but too many trainees in the dining room with no supervision. Service was very poor...quite slow and with orders confused. As far as safety is concerned, you're given a whistle to blow if you need assistance. Our last morning there we heard several repeated whistle alarms from the... more

Mbuzi Mawe is a great reasonably priced tented camp in the northern part of the Serengeti. It has particularly good game viewing July-December. Each tent has 2 double beds, private bath, a veranda, ceiling fans, and even electricity and hot water. The dining tent is very comfortable for relaxing in the evening. There's nothing better than a "sundowner" overlooking the... more

The location is north in the serengeti park, but was a great place. The tent was very, very clean. The views of the wildlife from your room was the best. We enjoyed the smallness of the camp. When we were there only 4 outher people were at the camp. The food was good and upscale for at tented camp. more

We stayed at Mbuzi Mawe for 2 nights on New Years Eve & New Years Day last. It was a truly fabulous place to stay & one of the highlights of our excellent Safari with Roy Safaris. The tented camp is built on & around the Mbuzi Mawe Kopjes. Our Tent was one of the lower numbered ones, number 5.... more

This is luxurious tented camping but its difficult to call it camping when your tent is larger than apartments I have lived in. 2 King sized beds in one tent gives you an idea of how large the tents are. Comfort is not a problem here and it is beautiful to be amongst nature however I think it is almost... more

What an amazing lodge--the tents were incredibly luxurious, the staff was amazing, and the food/wine was great after a day of safari. The Serengeti was not my favorite area of Tanzania (I loved Ngorongoro), but the Mbuzi Mawe was a place I could have stayed forever. It was the perfect end to an amazing honeymoon. more

It was just on sunset as we drove into Mbuze Mawe and we thought we had seen all our animals for the day when up in a tree on the side of the road we spotted a Leopard. So, we were on a high when we arrived at Mbuze Mawe. This tented camp is an unexpected piece of luxury in... more

Terrific oasis in the Eastern part of the Serengeti! We stayed for three nights as part of our safari. It's small and intimate. Don't wait for a key for your room, as it's a huge canvas tent with multiple layers and zippers to keep out bugs. Inside is charming and roomy. Bathroom is well equipped with solar heated water. Electricity... more

We stayed at Mbuzi Mawe Tented camp on our last night. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It is about a 1 hour drive from the Seronera Visitor center. The reception area is lovely. It has a computer with internet access, an area with nice couches and armchairs and a small bar and gift shop. There is a terrace with lovely views... more
