We stayed here before we began our Kilimanjaro climb after finding this on tripadvisor... and it really is quite a find! It is up in the hills and offers STUNNING views of Kilimanjaro (best to see at night when it's clear or in the morning). The rooms are huts and are very quaint and comfortable. The staff goes above and... More

If you want to have the best view of Mount Kilimanjaro, please stay at MKVL. Owner, Philip is retired and invest in the lodge as his pension - so place is well maintained and is also his home. I was the only guest that day and he and his employees even did a drum performance just for me! The place... More

The Kili View lodge is not to be confused with a 5 star resort, but provides a 5 star experience. The people and service are hands-on, with emphasis on a cultural experience. Now, at about 9,000 foot in elevation, in the foothills of Kili, spending a night or two before the hike at Kili View Lodge makes a lot of... More

It has taken us some time to write this as we visited here in June 2012 but it is still fresh in our memories. It was certainly one of the highlights of Tanzania for us. It is not 5-star luxury, however this is certainly made up for by the wonderful views (Don t expect to see Mt Kili every time,... More

We stayed here for two nights during our honeymoon. The warm and friendly staff made our stay pretty memorable. We had some good chats with the owner, Phillip, who welcomed us as though we were friends. It's quite rare to have a conversation with any indigenous African on this kind of level, so we were grateful. Most others lack the... More

We stayed for two nights last month. The drive up the mountain was harrowing, especially at night, when you could not see a thing and all you could feel were the bumps and ruts. Once there, we had a difficult walk to our lodge which was primitive, basic and not very clean. Not what we expected at all from the... More

After earlier this year, 2012, achieving a #1 ranking of the Top 11 Specialty Lodges in Kilimanjaro National Park, I was disappointed to learn in October, after so many positive reviews, that we suddenly dropped to the #2 ranking. A few recent guests, and especially "chicagoguy43" expected more luxurious accommodation. I am sorry if they felt misled. At a B&B... More

This is the first time the rating on TripAdvisor let me down. Rated number one (at least it was rated number one back in September 2012)? No Way! This place isn't bad though. Not at all. The views are truly magnificent and during our 3 nights at the place we got to see Mt. Kili snow-capped summit 4 times, which... More

..that is not all what counts. To start, most of the personell is very friendly and tries to make you feel as comfortable as possible. They organize small music shows (the personell plays on traditional African instruments) almost every night and present people that climbed Kilimanjaro with little gifts which is nice. They also let us try local traditional drinks... More

Laura and I stayed in the place for 3 nights and 4 days - absolutely enjoyed the place and the views over the plains and more importantly, of Kilimanjaro was spectacular. Philip, the owner of the lodge was a very warm person and made us feel at home and his every other word used to be 'Karibu' - which is... More

This is absolutely the place to stay if you want to see real life, meet real people, talk with them about life and issues of the real world and Tanzania. This is not a touristy, expensive, glass and marble, upscale hotel. It is a rustic, but comfortable, quaint, authentic establishment, run by genuine, enthusiastic, patriotic Tanzanians who put your comfort... More
