I arrived at 10pm in a Saturday night. Had to make my way through a loud bar full of prostitutes to reception...where I then had to wait around for someone to come and show me to my room. Room 5...ground floor (of the guest house) with a window into the terrace section of the bar (complete with prostitute dancing outside).... More

The q-bar downstairs is a lively sports bar, with good bar food. The guesthouse is separate, with its own reception and good security. The more expensive rooms are huge, with nice beds, big desks with enough plugs for all your gadgets, whatever the plug. Wifi is reliable, though not super fast as in all of Dar es Salaam. Floors are... More

During my visit to Dar El salam I went to stay in many hotels but I found most of them concerning a budget traveler like me expensive and besides it was also dated old hotels except that one its located in a nice place ...downstairs you can enjoy your drink with nice food especially meat grilled steak with reasonable prices... I knew the QBar 15 years ago when I lived in Dar and it has not changed one bit, except that the loud music seems to be every night now instead of just at the weekends - my mistake. I stayed recently for three nights as I did not want to spend much and I knew the rooms were pretty... More

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We did have new management from early 2015 to June 2015 and we did have a great deal of issues at this time. One was them playing music every night. We took back the management at the end of June and have since tried to make changes. New beds... More

Overall good experience. It's quite a famous place in Dar - and the reaction local friends had was a mix of giggles and awe --- "you're staying AT the Q bar?? That's awesome!" When we arrived the room they had booked for us (a couple) had two single beds and a bathroom shared with the entire room including the backpackers... More

it should be noted that this place no longer blasts loud music Thu-Sat - it's now everyday. Stayed here for 2 weeks and they blasted the same CD till 3-4am every single day. felt like i was preparing for a role in The Shining sequel. Good luck.

Yeah yeah, everybody will mention the hookers downstairs. The bottom line is that this really has no impact on the quality of the guesthouse. We stayed here two nights and thought it was a solid budget option in this part of Dar. The place is clean and in a pretty good area. The food at the bar downstairs is tasty... More

Q-Bar is a hard spot to review, because if I would have stayed there Sunday through Wednesday, I'm sure I would have a very different opinion of the place. As such, we stayed on a Saturday, and I just can't bear to give it anything but a terrible review. The service was incredibly poor. We waited at the reception desk... More

Forget getting any rest here, Thursday-Saturday. The DJ continues his base thumping till 4am, even if there's only one prostitute left stumbling about the "dancefloor". Although, if you're a football fan, you'll certainly enjoy your stay as it also functions as a great sports bar. All in all, you might get a good "bang" for your buck ;) Cheers.

Stayed here over weekend, meaning nights were noisy until early morning thanks to their bar and the Maisha nightclub next door. We enjoyed the bar though...apart from prostitutes, there were quit a few young hot Scandinavian girls that night :) Rooms were basic but not bad for this price. They have good lockers in rooms and general safety does not... More

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Glad you had a good time. I am not sure what you mean by the name, it was actually named Q-Bar after the q stick used in playing pool. The Maisha night club is now closed. Hope you make it back to beautiful Dar es Salaam again one day.... More
