Great little hotel in a non-touristy area of Dar Es Salaam, it isn't the most glamorous place in the world, but the staff were friendly, the rooms were very basic but clean. Our rooms each had a little TV, a double bed, a fridge, desk and a chair. There were also en suites to our rooms which were clean and... More

This is not really a review as I never actually got to stay at the Al Aruba despite several efforts to do so! My husband and I called the hotel several times to try to book a room and each time the person we spoke with just kept telling us that it was not suitable for us as a couple... More

I stayed at the Al Uruba for one night after getting the boat accross from Zanzibar to fly back home the next day. It's a basic, clean and cheap which is well run and perfect for what I was looking for. Kiriakii is also a great place to go for an explore and the restraunt downstairs is also fantastic if... More

My husband and I stayed here on a trip that combined a conference for him and vacation for us. This was my first trip to Africa (my husband's nth) and I wanted to stay in a locally-run hotel at a modest price and choose the Al-Uruba based on the other reviews from this website. I was a little surprised the... More

Just stayed a couple of days in this hotel in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam. Kariakoo is near the city center mainly known for it's market. It's a very vibrant, hectic place with a lot bussiness going own. It's nice and interesting but not the area you want to be if you're looking for something calm. The Al Uruba hotel is... More

Dar Es Salaam is not tourist central, but this hotel is an excellent place to stay while in transit. The neighborhood is like so many in the region...busy, not very attractive, etc,. but the convenience of having a clean, better than average restaurant downstairs is a big plus. The rooms are clean, well-furnished and air-conditioned. We were more than pleased... More

I stayed here for 1 week during a visit to Dar. I arrived late into town and was referred to this hotel by my taxi driver. It was a very budget friendly, clean hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful as I had never been to Tanzania before and knew little about Dar.

The Al Uruba is a clean, small and safe hotel in the middle of the crazy streets of Kariakoo. The rooms are 12,000 or 15,000 (with air conditioning) Tsh a night and include hot water, television and clean linens. There is a pretty good, and cheap restaurant on the first floor and the hotel is a block from the famous... More
