I have stayed in Serena hotels in at least 5 different countrys . I will also say the Zanzibar Serena is one of my top 5 hotels. This building over the years has been a Sheraton a Movenpick and other chains I can't even remember. It does not meet the expectations I have when I decide to stay at a... More

This is a very nice city hotel with good (not great) food, very nice rooms, and strong security procedures. This was the last hotel we were in during our trip to Tanzania and we were there less than 12 hours, only long enough to have dinner, catch a nap and take a bus to the airport for a middle-of-the-night flight... I stayed here for a week while attending a conference downtown. The hotel is a bit older in design and a few things like the bathrooms are very dated. The restaurant, gardens and pool are top notch though-and the level of service is the usual Serena standard. I highly recommend it for business travel

We had to overnight in Dar es-Salam, in order to catch a flight down to Mozambique around 10.00 one morning, and could not make that flight, from deep in the Selous National Park, so this was a bit of a necessity. Drive there from Dar airport took approx. 40/45 minutes and was dire with hideous traffic snarling everything. Apparently there... More

We held a conference here and I stayed for two nights. The conference facilities were pretty good standard and rooms were pleasant and a decent size. From a superior room you get a view of the sea - I was six floors up overlooking the city, golf course and hotel gardens with the sea and the rising sun beyond. The... More

Upon entering the hotel one feels very welcome and warm. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Every room has its own WiFi repeater making connections extremely easy and throughout the entire hotel connections were abundant. Culinary speaking! Excellent! This was an absolute delight and would gladly revisit.

Serena is the undisputed market leader in Eastern Africa and there was little doubt where I would stay when, after many years, I returned to Dar es Salaam. My choice was suitable reaffirmed when a dinner meeting, after I asked where we would go, was scheduled for the Serena's a la carte restaurant by my host, with the added quip... More

It is can be easy but also difficult to write a negative review. I waited several weeks after my bitter experience at Serena Hotel before finally writing this review. The hotel is centrally located and seems to be one of the top spot in Dar Es Salaam. There was an incident with my reservation, which can happen. But the response... More

We had just completed a safari experience and a visit to Zanzibar and added an extra day in Dar es Salaam. This worked out very well since otherwise you end up spending almost 8 hours waiting at the airport for the midnight plane. The Serena hotel was a great place to stay and has the amenities we wanted, eg pool... More

I have been to many hotels in East Africa, but my first stay at a Serena. It did not fail to impress. The rooms were great and far better than most hotels you get in London and the great thing was the swimming pool which kept the kids busy. I only had breakfast here as there are lots of places...
