What a beautiful place run by such kind and welcoming people. Staying at the Swiss Garden Hotel is like taking a time out from the rush of everything. Have stayed twice. The staff are flexible, there is Internet access, each room has a spacious bathroom. Tip: go and find the giant turtles hiding in the garden.

Quiet place away from the city madness but right inside a residential area. Traveled for work and found it okay for working from the room, no TV in rooms to distract you. The place can get really lonely though and it's not for someone out to have fun. The outdoor dinner/bar area under the makuti was superb for the evening... More

We stayed for 1 night on our way to Zanzibar. Rooms were clean, bed comfortable, air conditioning was perfect. The lounge area for evening drinks etc. was a very appealing. Our dinner was a buffet with 2 other travelers, tasty and reasonable. Service before during and after was first rate. Transfers to and from the international were professional & courteous.

I have stayed at Swiss Garden many times, and last year went somewhere else because I just couldn't work and stay there -- between the construction next door, and various other problems. I spent 3 nights there. The garden is magical, you can rest in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere (in such a big city and by walking distance to downtown it's probably unique) but that's what you pay for. The hotel itself is not bad. The place is pleasant and the people who work there are nice. But... too many unpleasant surprises. The website says that there is hotel transport - unfortunately the cost is $30 each way and $40 if you arrive at night (this is not specified anywhere). stayed one night on the way to the north of tanzania, as i was travelling on my own it was reassuringly secure and friendly, very clean and cozy, would recommend this hotel to other travellers. it was lovely and quiet, and very cooling to sit on the varanda in the evening rain. would definitely use this hotel again

I adored by week at the Swiss Garden. The staff could not have been nicer. The food was fabulous as were the community dinners. Such interesting conversations and guests. Nice, friendly hotel with a lot of green surrondings which I liked. Maybe I expected a little more from standards and rooms at the price of $90. However, I was happy over my stay in general... Very good omelett for breakfast!

Stayed here only one night,chosen purely for location as we were visiting an organisation in the same street and wanted to avoid the infamous Dar traffic .
