Before leaving Dar Es Salaam for a safari, we spent the day and overnight at the Oyster Bay Hotel. The rooms were lovely, the service was impeccable, and the meals were delicious. We could not have asked for a more perfect transition from a long overseas flight to an active safari itinerary.

Wow. Spotless rooms, personalized service, DELICIOUS food and absolute comfort. This exclusive, very-low capacity hotel (no more than 7 rooms I believe) makes you feel like royalty. The staff is 100% focused on your individual needs: everybody knows your name, what you like for breakfast, your sleeping habits, etc. There is not much to see or do in Dar (in... More

What can you say about a hotel that makes you feel so welcome that you don’t want to leave? The Oyster Bay residence (it seems unfair to call it a hotel) sits just across the street from the Indian Ocean in the area of Dar populated by diplomatic residences and offices. On our first night there during a 2-part stay... More

You want to be treated like royalty in sunny and humid Dar es Salaam...be there; I had the pleasure being there a couple of times and i was received with joy and served with pride; i'm happy like a little kid every time; make your choice the next time you're in Dar;

My mom and I arrived in Dar Es Salaam at nearly 10:00 PM after over a day of traveling from the United States. Waiting for us at the airport, was a driver in dressed in all white linen who would be the one to drive us to The Oyster Bay Hotel. Despite the late hour, the entire staff was waiting... More

I am currently travelling through Africa and sometimes it can be hard slog. The oyster bay hotel provides a wonderful place to refresh on arrival to Tanzania or after a Safari. The staff are fantastic, from the moment you arrive everything that you could want or need appears! The food is of high quality and severed to your liking. The... More

I'm currently traveling and living in East Africa for work and ended up staying at the Oyster Bay Hotel for a weekend. The hotel specifically focuses on business people and people going to or returning from safaris. I found it however a great destination in itself. The suites are sizable, luxurious and provide a haven of comfort and relaxation with... More

It started off with a driver all dressed in white picking me up in an air-conditioned van at Dar-es-salaam airport, and ended with a lobster platter delivered to my room. The experience at the Oyster Bay couldn't have been any better. I arrived in a poor state, tired and sweaty and dusty, but was received by the owner as if... More

This establishment seems to have filled a gap in the market which I hadn't realised was there. It's a great product - what you want, when you want it, somewhere peaceful to draw breath before or after travelling elsewhere in the region. We just had one night (en route for Mozambique) and everything was beautifully well-organised. I'm not sure I'd... More

In a upscale commercial area, near the water and with only 8 rooms and a very attentive staff, we found this guest house a lovely place to stay. Our room overlooked the Indian Ocean, which lay across a busy highway. The staff arranged for private sightseeing for us. Dinners and breakfast were served on our schedule and were well prepared....
