This was the perfect place to end our incredible 2 week safari. This small boutique hotel is beautifully decorated with African ornaments and furnishings, the rooms are huge, and the garden and pool refreshing! I would definitely recommend the Oyster Bay Hotel to anyone requiring a hotel in Dar before or after their safari as it keeps the holiday experience... More

What a find for us, recommended and booked by our & Beyond Agent. We started and ended our Tanzanian holiday here. The other recent reviews very adequately describe the attributes. The rooms are large and comfortable with quality furnishings and decor. The dual airconditioners a blessing in a hot and humid Dar. Maretha Wentzel, the manager, runs a good show... More

This small, luxury property has some of the nicest rooms I have seen. The living room, dining areas and other public areas are all fantastic. It is right across the street from the beach (which by the way has beautiful sunrises) and it has a good lap pool. The only downside is that for morning flights the traffic out of... More

This is certainly the place to stay in Dar es Salaam. Very friendly reception and attendance throughout your stay by the hostesses Lynne and Maritha. Rooms are spacious, with all comfort. looking out over the Indian Ocean. Meals are taken with other guests and hosts on the beautiful terrace are inside in the salon (tastefully decorated in African style). Food... More

What a wonderful place is The Oyster Bay. After having stayed at the Royal Alm and Kempinski Kilimanjaro I really found this hotel a gem! It has only 8 wonderful which are decorated in contemporary African style. Very tasteful with comfortable chairs, writing table, big bathroom with hath and walk-in shower and piles of bathtowels. Beautiful lounge/ dining room. Nice... More

Value for money: Unsatisfactory. The room was superb, management and staff were very, very friendly. However, the stay is too costly for what they offfer. The food (table d'hôte) was fine. Nice ambiance.

We returned to the Oyster Bay hotel again because it is so very special. Arriving at the airport, you are picked up by an air conditioned car with cold drinks and cool face cloths, so refreshing after flying. The hotel is decorated in a minimalist style. There are only about nine spacious rooms which all have ocean views. This is... More

You could't find a more calm, kind, well-designed, elegant and comfortable haven in the heat of Dar es Salaam. Situated on Oyster Bay in the leafy diplomatic area of the city, this small hotel is ideal for a stopover if you're en route for Zanzibar or the National Parks. Meals and drinks are taken on the verandah in the company... More

A great "jumping off" spot in Dar Es Salaam or for anyone doing business or travel in this busy East African city. Charlie Bailey has transformed this into what really feels like a private home overlooking the Indian Ocean. An oasis in this teeming, busy city. Drinks and meals served in a wonderfully decorated "home" are superior. Guests made to... More

We stayed only one night as we had a layover between flights. The hotel does all they can to make your life easier. Sadly we arrived late in the evening and left early the following day but the food and accommodation were excellent. I highly reccommend this hotel.
