The Hotel Continental is desperately hanging on to it's 1920's/30's reputation, when the likes of Noel Coward et al apparently sat in stylish splendour on their balconies. Now It resembles the domain of Harold Steptoe, having an atmosphere of utter neglect, with clear evidence of poor management in every aspect of its operations. The place is a shambles; a jumble... We stayed here for a night, but I would like to have stayed longer. The building itself is a jewel, full of beautiful tiled rooms with carved ceilings and hidden courtyards and secret rooms. Every time we came back in a new room seemed to appear as if by magic. The bed room was basic, but clean and comfortable with... More

I knew this hotel well and stayed here on various visits to Tanger. It used to be a real institution but sadly is now rather soulless and very faded - no longer faded glory - just tired and empty . Yes I imagine it is a lot to do with Tanger losing its port up to Tanger Med Port as... More

The worst hotel in Morocco The receptionist give us the keys of a different room than the one we have already booked. ( without a sea view and 2 beds instead of one big bed although we wrote for them that we are honeymooners ) It's funny that he made that because the bellman told him the bags are heavy... More

This hotel is very old and does show its age. However, it was walking distance from the ferry and had a beautiful front balcony where we sat and had drinks and watched the lights of Spain at night. Beautiful old Moroccan decor on doorways, windows, etc.. Rooms were small and older but location and history definitely made up for it.... More

We last stayed here 20 years ago and apart from the fact that some of the bedrooms have been 'modernised' nothing else has changed. The hotel still has that magical past when Coward, Hemingway and others stayed here and enjoyed the highlife in Tangier. Don't come expecting luxury but do come for the experience, the view, the wonderful tiling and... More

"Legendary" hotel where lots of celebrities have stayed in the past. Very nice and atmospheric communal areas. If you don't understand that this is what you pay for, you'll be disappointed! Basic rooms, clean except for a few stains on the walls, no heating, hot water only at certain times etc. Simple breakfast. Be there early or risk just getting... More

Good location in front of the port and the hotel has history of course but it's not well maintained. It could be much better if it is taken care of. I didn't like the hotel and I don't think I will return back there even for the good location. First they gave us a double room that was a disaster... More

While traveling through Spain and Morocco with my family we had one night in Tangier and found Hotel Continental through "Rick Steve's Spain 2013". Usually we adore his books and suggestions. Well, not this time, Ricky. Pro's: •good breakfast •morning staff was helpful •newly renovated bathrooms •nice views and close to the medina Con's: •the evening staff was very indifferent... More
