I feel lucky that I spent the time on Trip Advisor to read through multiple reviews of Marrakech hotels as this gorgeous riad was hidden at number 23 of 364 Marrkech hotels. Given, I've not stayed at any others but if numbers 1-22 are better than Riad Amirat Al Jamal then they must be incredible! We arrived at the riad... more
We stayed at the riad for about 2 weeks and found Peggy, Rachid and staff to be very knowledgeable, thoughtful and attentive. The meals were excellent and flavorful. Our rooms were comfortable and well appointed and decorated with many Berber antiques and items. Evenings on the roof top terraces drinking mint tea and listening to the calls to prayer echoing... more
This was our first time in Morocco and we weren't quite sure what to expect from a riad. As experienced travelers, my friend and I were accustomed to staying in the usual chain or boutique hotels. We were pleasantly surprised when we entered into Riad Amirat al Jamal and greeted by owner Peggy Engh. This riad was like an oasis... more
I have just returned from 3 nights at the Riad Amirat Al Jamal. We were both blown away by how beautiful the riad is, the decor, the atmosphere etc. We were met by Anna and Hamoud who will make you feel so completely welcome. Hamoud (sp) looks after you whilst you are there and you couldn't ask for a more... more
Our first trip to this majestic city was made all the more special by our stay at Riad Amirat Al Jamal. From the authentic Morrocan art and furnishings throughout the riad to the friendly and courteous staff, you will thoroughly enjoy staying here. For someone who travels weekly on business in the States, it is a great and welcomed departure... more
I travel internationally for pleasure at least three times per year. Riad Amirat Al Jamal is as good a place as I've stayed anywhere (and I stay at some nice places!). The owner is American, which I think is a plus, because she is able to direct you to the best shopping/eating/cultural sites in Marrekech and there is no language... more
My husband and I stayed in Chambre Margaret at Riad Amirat Al Jamal for 6 nights in March 2009. As always, I did ALOT of accommodation research before we came away. Because it was a last minute booking all of the top Trip Adviser riads were already booked up and this place was right down at number 20. Number 20!... more
My friend and I stayed in the Duplex room for 3 nights in March. This room suited us perfectly as plenty of room to dump our things and a two sinked large bathroom which was great for two girls. We had our own small roof terrace which again was great for a glass of wine and we were lucky enough... more
My family and I stayed in this beautiful, and immaculate Riad. The rooms were beautiful, and clean. There were plenty of towels, hot water, and clean working toilets (something that is rare in this country). Peggy and her staff were terrific. Having Peggy helped so much. Being an American there was no language barrier, and she knows what we expect... more
