If you want 4/5 star service then you should book into a 4/5 star hotel and pay the 4/5 star prices. I stayed at Hotel Amalay with my daughter and found everyone very friendly. As for someone saying it is in a 'dodgy area' I don't think it is. I have stayed in places a lot worse than here. As... More

Its hard to say good things about this hotel, I think the only thing I can say I liked about it was the fact it was so close to everything, and the tours they offer were good. its in a dodgy area I did not feel safe at night in the area, I have never ever met a more rude... More

I paid an agency for two nights. Upon arriving at the Amalay Hotel a stone faced female demanded two nights cash. She was quickly joined by another female and a male bouncer all of whom were demanding I pay cash for my agency (PAID) booking. In the end I said "Call The Police" in Arabic. Absolutely dreadful. No light at... More

If people want 4 or 5 star quality, they should pay more. I stayed there for a week this month and while not everything was perfect, I was quite happy. POSITIVES 1. The room was fine. It was at the back and a little dark but there were no smells and it was quiet. 2. There's Wifi on every floor... More

if you don't have to spend much time in Marrakech and don't spend either much time in the room, eat outside and use your towels, soap and so on... that fine, use this Amalay hotel. People are nice but our room was pretty smelly. It is a bit out of date for sure. There is internet connection. Sometimes works fine,

Friendly staff. Clean rooms every day, fresh towels. Good value for money for bed breakfast and dinner 246 euros for 6 nights, ie 2838MAD or just over £200. Cannot complain at that . We were made welcome (2 guys) at all times. We would stay there again

We arrived in Marrakech too late to find a proper stay so we just took the first hotel we saw. It was cheap - 434 MAD for a night in a twin room. We told it was the last room available, the receptionist did not make us feel very welcome. The room was small but worst was the smell of... More

30 minute walk to the souks, not 10/20 as they have mentioned! the hotel itself is a bit out of date, but for the price we could not complain. staff were friendly, cleaners clean the room everyday, there was only one remote to share for the AC for the whole hotel! for your t.v remote you have to ask the... We booked 2 double rooms in advance for us and my partner's parents and got 2 single rooms instead. Our room stank of cigarettes despite booking a non smoking room. To get rid of the smell we tried to air the room by opening the balcony window but the close proximity of the busy road made the room stinkier with... More

Good points: Lots of hot water. Reasonably priced restaurant. Handy for taxi to Djemma el Fna, train station and airport. Fairly clean. Bad points: If you asked for a non-smoking room when you booked, the staff probably won't take any notice and will be dismissive when you complain. Ill fitting plug (or no plug at all) will mean that you... More
