The Dar Shama is a bit of a mixed bag. There are some positives but overall I could not recommend it and (because we had such a wonderful time in Marraakech) whilst we will go back to Marrakech, we will not go back here. First of all, it claims to be 5 stars. Now I know that 5 stars in... More

Lovely quiet hotel good for a quiet retreat but don't take half board. the food was very limited in choice and very expensive. 180 Drhm for a tagine, there were 3 chicken, beef or veg. The hotel is not suitable for veggies or vegans. I had read an earlier message saying they catered well for veggies. this was not my... More

A taxi from the airport costs around 250 dirhams and is around 20-30 minutes away from Marrakech Menara airport. You have to drive past the medina to reach the area of Palmeraie where the hotel/Riad is located. This area is around 10 minutes taxi journey from the medina- Too far to walk. It is supposed to be where celebrities stay... More

Dar Shama was really an excellent riad in the Palmeraie of Marrakesh. A beautiful garden with swimming pool, nice and quiet if you want to escape the hecticism of the crowded and vivid city.

Journey from the airport to the hotel was 20mins long. Once we reached the hotel in the evening, there was a wow factor, the welcoming was great, rooms spacious. We stayed in a standard double room with built in wardrobes and a lovely bathroom, with TV and cable, but all in German. Only English channels available was CNN international and... More

We arrived after a long hot journey as family group. Check in seemed very slow but once through the gates everyone was wowed by the gardens and the rooms which were spectacular. Then disappointment set in. Lunch by the pool took 1 hour to materialise and dinner was at best average, and very expensive. Service for everything was chaotic and... More

Mum and I have just returned from a break at the Dar Shama, without any doubt, one of the best hotels we have have ever stayed in. In the most beautiful grounds, even nicer than depicted in the website, this small intimate hotel offers a level of service and elegance that is comparable to some of the best 5 star... More

My family , 9 adults of varying ages plus one 10 month old baby, have just returned from 5 nights at the Riad Dar Shama in Marrakech. We had a wonderful time. The Riad is situated a short journey from the historical centre of Marrakech in the beautiful Palmeraie area, and is surrounded by lush and beautiful gardens where you... More

The guest house looks far better in the pictures than in reality. I liked the garden and the pool area...and that's it.... The room (Ayoub) I got was small and overlooking the wall - it was dark all day long and th lights had to be on all the time. The bathroom was also small. Water was very boiling HOT... More
