This is not a luxury hotel. My mother visited this hotel 25 years ago with her then boyfriend.. And from the pictures she showed me.. Not much has changed. The location is amazing. Full view of the medina and the building structurally is beautiful. But the insides need to be redone. The breakfast is shabby and yea the rooms are... More

This hotel was a pleasant change from the new modern could be anywhere hotels. The old palace has been beautifully adapted to be a lovely well appointed hotel, without losing its old world charm. And it could only be in Morocco. It is perfectly situated next to the old medina and has lovely views out over the city. The staff... More

Stayed at this hotel recently as part of a group tour. The hotel has seen better, grander days. That said, the Medina view rooms with balcony can't be beat for atmosphere. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and very good. Bar fun and atmospheric. Gardens beautiful. Service was not up to a 5-star standard, however, nor was upkeep. I hope they are... More

We stayed in the Sofitel in Fez and enjoyed the friendliness as well as the entire service. The staff was extremely caring. We also celebrated my mum's birthday and were blessed with birthday surprises the Sofitel provided to her to make the day special. Thank you.

I had requested a Medina view for my room and would have had one if they landscapers had been more diligent. In stead I had a very private room with a patio surrounded by overgrown shrubbery. The room and breakfast was very nice. I was here for two night and this allowed my to walk around the gardens and pool... More

This is a super hotel with wonderful authentic art and décor. The room was gorgeous with a great balcony view of the city. Staff very nice and helpful and the food excellent. We loved the outdoor dining area of the international restaurant and their staff were outstanding. So much fun and interaction - they really wanted us to have the... More

The hotel is in a great location overlooking the medina. My room was fine with a small balcony. However, the concierge and reception staff were not helpful and seemed to feel any request was a burden. Restaurant, doormen and housekeeping staff were helpful Gardens and pool area were lovely. Gift shop had items I did not see anywhere else in... More

Liked our room and bathroom. The grounds were lovely. The staff was inconsistent. Some gave great service and others were checked out. Heard a rumor that Sofitel is giving up their lease on the property this December so perhaps that explains it. It feels a little past its prime but with some attention could be fantastic. Hope that the rumors... More

An excellent hotel well placed for exploring the nearby Medina. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had a lovely room decorated in a traditional way with a small balcony looking over the pool and with commanding views over the Medina and the rest of the town, a nice gesture was the fresh flowers and bottles of complimentary... Sorry to see the negative reviews, - - we had a wonderful time. The hotel was formerly the Palace of the Jamai family constructed in 1879 in Moorish style, converted into a hotel in 1930;s and surrounded by an Andelusian garden of citrus and palm trees. It's an oasis of calm amidst the hurly-burly of the ancient medina outside. Nice... More
