On account of work, I had to go to Algeria. I had never been to Algeria before and, as such, had little idea what to expect. Y'know, it wasn't that bad. This is what you would call a 'historic property'. The walls of the bar are adorned with photos of previous visitors and, although I don't regard myself as any... More

I stayed four nights on a business trip; I had previously visited the hotel on several occasions for a meal and had been very impressed with the beautiful gardens and setting and the historic architecture. My stay did not live up to my high expectations, due to the mediocre standard of the two rooms that I tried, particularly the tired... More

El-Djazair is more than just a hotel: it is a very piece of historical architecture sitting atop of Algiers' hills. To put it this way - many of the Allied operations during Second World War were planned within El-Djazair's dependencies. As if this weren't enough, the rooms are clean and large, and if you get a room facing north you... More

It is located on the Souidani - Boudjemaâ Avenue (formerly Foureau Lamy ) . This is one of the oldest and most prestigious palaces of Algiers . Hotel St. George has hosted distinguished guests : the Prince and Princess of Wales Edward VII and Alexandra , General Eisenhower, De Gaulle, Simone de Beauvoir , Baron Rothschild, Rudyard Kipling ... On a recent business trip to Algiers we stayed in the El Djazair for two nights. It's definitely different from the more modern Business Hotels around the world with it's old style architecture and rooms.I stayed in a recently renovated room, where everything was up to normal standard, apart from IT connectivity which seems to work only partly. This didn't... More

Since Algeria is not a touristic country we could not expect sn high quality service in theirs hotels, even if we are talking about an 4 or 5 stars hotel. El Djazair is a decent hotel, clean, nice staff and a nice garden! No more than this! 200€ per night with out breakfast, for each meal on the restaurant expect... More

What a delight to stay in this city-centre hotel in Algiers. Built in the late 19th century, it has all the glamor of that era. History, wonderful gardens, two very good restaurants and very polite staff. Truly worth it.

Stayed here for 5 nights whilst on a business trip so was not paying for the room or breakfast.Despite others reviews I would say this hotel is of a high international standard with excellent service and facilities. My room was spacious, well equipped with a great balcony overlooking the bay.The bar and patio were excellent with reasonably priced alcohol freely available. The breakfast... Well, for oriental Algerian experience, you are sick and tired of lavish luxury hotels, you want the taste of authentic culture, this is the pace to be, old building, old rooms, the view is fantastic, historical architecture, good location and well secured and protected, the hotel botanic garden is a must see, I heard its a UN heritage site, BUT...
