I was really excited to stay at this hotel after reading the reviews. However, I found that when I checked in my expectations were too high. The Gateway Center is absolutely the best place to stay when visitng Ames and has good food, nice lobby bar area and lovely grounds. Stayed at this hotel last summer. The room was small but extremely comfortable. My favorite part was the down comforters on the beds and even felt good in June. I would definitely stay here again more

We were pleasantly surprised at the down comforters on the wonderful beds at the Gateway. It felt so much more luxurious than your average hotel and a great deal more comfortable. We would definitely stay here again if we were to travel to Ames. more

A very nice hotel conveniently located to Iowa State. Great rooms and beds...even good Wolfgang Puck's in-room coffee. Nice pool area and a good workout room. Definitely recommended more

This hotel was a surprise! The rooms were nicely appointed and the dining staff efficient and friendly. We are planning to return next month and look forward to experiencing the new rennovations. more
