Marye was very friendly and welcoming, but we were very disappointed in the cleanliness of the accommodations. The carpet was dirty, the furniture was dusty, there were cobwebs in the corners and fruit flies in the full waste paper basket. We expressed our concerns to Marye and she immediately found us another bed and breakfast that had rooms available. She... More

I am so grateful to my wonderful guests over the past 3 years, and want them to know that I do appreciate their business. Since I do my own cleaning and preparation for the arrival of my guests, I strive constantly to keep this marvelous old building in great condition. However, this comment deserves an address: I know that the... More

We can echo everyone else's comments about Marye - she is wonderful. The place is an original 2-story Amana home one block from the shops and restaurants. Marye lives on the first floor and converted the upstairs into a very nice B&B. She has one bedroom with an en suite bathroom. A second bedroom with a large private bathroom across... More

We stayed at the Prairie Rose for a night during a cross-country road trip. The warm welcome, comfy bed and delicious breakfast was just what we needed during a grueling 3-day drive back to the east coast. The proprietor, Marye, was a sweetheart and made us feel right at home. The bed was cozy and the bathroom was clean with... More

We stayed for two nights in early June. Amana wasn't crowded at all (probably due to the previous weekend being Memorial Day). This was our first visit to Amana. The Prairie Rose was a wonderful place to stay...Marye is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. It is peaceful and the sleeping was great, bullfrogs and all! Her breakfasts are very generous... We stayed for two nights during our Anniversary vacation, it was the best place we have stayed, ever. It was our very first time staying at a B & B, and it was way more than we expected. The outdoor view is spectacular, the rooms and bathrooms are very clean. Pictures really do not do any justice. Breakfast was phenomenal,... More

This was the second time we have stayed at Prairie Rose. Marye is very warm and friendly and makes you feel welcome the moment you arrive. Her breakfasts are phenomenal. The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable. Prairie Rose is conveniently located but quiet. This is the perfect place to stay in Amana.

We just got back from a very nice get a way to the Amanas. We stayed at the Prairie Rose B&B for the first time and it won't be our last. The B&B is perfectly located, just 2 blocks off the main area with shops, restaurants and bars, yet peaceful for sleeping. In fact the only thing I heard at... More

Reading all the nice reviews on Trip Advisor led me to make a reservation at Prairie Rose. Marye, the innkeeper is so nice. She welcomed us and made us feel like we were "at home." Our family were the only ones using the inn so we had the whole place to ourselves. We used two rooms. It is perfect for... More

We had a wonderful experience at this B&B on Jan. 17th, 2014. The atmosphere is warm and inviteing especially when we found brownie treats waiting for our arrival. Mary is very friendly and does all she can to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. I had forewarned Mary that my husband is a big breakfast eater and... More

My husband and I were traveling to visit our family in Des Moines and decided to stay in the Amana Colonies on the way. We used to stay in the Holiday Inn and then the Clarion that took it over, but that hotel has sadly deteriorated and recently even the Little Amana General Store that adjoined the hotel is gone....
