We just got back from a very nice get a way to the Amanas. We stayed at the Prairie Rose B&B for the first time and it won't be our last. The B&B is perfectly located, just 2 blocks off the main area with shops, restaurants and bars, yet peaceful for sleeping. In fact the only thing I heard at... More

Reading all the nice reviews on Trip Advisor led me to make a reservation at Prairie Rose. Marye, the innkeeper is so nice. She welcomed us and made us feel like we were "at home." Our family were the only ones using the inn so we had the whole place to ourselves. We used two rooms. It is perfect for... More

We had a wonderful experience at this B&B on Jan. 17th, 2014. The atmosphere is warm and inviteing especially when we found brownie treats waiting for our arrival. Mary is very friendly and does all she can to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. I had forewarned Mary that my husband is a big breakfast eater and... More

My husband and I were traveling to visit our family in Des Moines and decided to stay in the Amana Colonies on the way. We used to stay in the Holiday Inn and then the Clarion that took it over, but that hotel has sadly deteriorated and recently even the Little Amana General Store that adjoined the hotel is gone.... We absolutely loved staying here. Mary was wonderful, as was the room and breakfast. The location is great and we were able to walk to all the shops and restaurants in Amana. I would stay here again and again.

Wonderful B&B in Amana Colonies. Beautifully remodeled one hundred year old wash house. Your host Marye is very personable and provides plenty of suggestions for seeing Amana. Wonderful breakfasts. Only two blocks from main shopping area and restaurants.

After staying there, we agree with everything in the other reviews. Incredibly charming accomodations and a sumptuous breakfast. And all of it within walking distance of the three famous Amana restaurants. Marye is a most incredible hostess and has genuine interest in her guests. She even arrange a thunderstorm in the middle of the night for us!

The proprietor, Marye, is gracious, accommodating and pays attention to detail. We had homemade brownies waiting for us when we arrived. The location was perfect; an easy walk to downtown Amana shops and restaurants. We had access to pretty much the entire second floor of a wonderful historic home. It was just like being at home. Freshly ground coffee and... More

We chose this B&B based solely on Tripadvisor reviews - never have I seen so many compliments for the proprietor. And Marye deserves every single one of them! She made us feel very welcome in her home as well as the town, she is a wonderful representative of Amana. The home was restored by Marye and is very comfortable, we... More

Marye is the ideal hostess: very accommodating and friendly. She made recommendations for entertainment and kept us informed about happenings around the area. The breakfasts were superb with fresh fruit, waffles, french toast and Amana bacon. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. We had the perfect weekend and plan to return to Prairie Rose.
