In my review of 2008 I had reccomended this hotel for the Masters, however, we noticed a significant decline since then during our stay this year. In 2008, we noticed a smokey smell to the furniture and carpet in our non-smoking room. In my e-mail to the manager to book for 2009 I had complained about this and was told in a reply e-mail that they had renovated. Upon arrival in 2009 in this same room as the previous years we noticed that the smell of smoke was even worse. In fact, we saw no evidence anywhere in the hotel of any renovation and in addition there was a noticeable lack of general maintainance (door handles broken, room numbers missing).
Since we first stayed here the owner has built some newer hotels in Augusta and has let the quality of this location drop dramatically. We have stayed at this hotel every year for the Masters since 2004 but will not be staying there in the future due to the rapid decline in service and general upkeep. more
