I travel for work. I travel too much and do not like it anymore. I have become an expert on staying in Central America: In Nicaragua, I have stayed in 3 hotels and a rented house in Managua, 1 hotel in Chinandega and one in Granada. In Honduras, I have stayed in 1 hotel in Saba, 2 in San Pedro... more

We stayed five nights at the diving pelican inn. The room itself was good -- great bed & linens, bathroom was adequate and the tv/dvd player (with their extensive library of movies) was great when staying in. Outside was amazing! We enjoyed relaxing in the "barefoot saloon". The hammocks were comfy and the sounds of the waves relaxing. It was... more

We were staying at Villa Helen which was very nice but they did not have a room for the rest of our stay so they recommended Diving Pelican Inn. We arrived to a cosy, comfortable condo infront of the owners Jim and Cathryn house. We had a double bed, bathroom, kitchen, cable tv, dvd player and had a key to... more

Anyone who knows Honduras will tell you it's a great country but physically rough around the edges. Well, a great respite from the roughness is An American-style retreat right on the beach. Go out all day and hike, ride the canopy or horse. But when night falls, a top-notch, king or queen-sized bed, huge video library and, clean, tasteful, American... more

Not content to spend our winter vacation in warm but tourist-suffocated places, my partner Brian and I chose the northern coast of Honduras for our more off the beaten path escape. Looking for a mixture of relaxation and more active outdoor activities such as hiking, snorkeling, and kayaking, we planned our trip near the areas of La Ceiba and the... more

We had a fabulous stay at The Diving Pelican. We had the pleasure of being hosted by Jim and Cathryn's stand-in, Mike, who did a great job making us feel at home, abetted by Baxter the Wonder Dog--he's just too cute to resist. The room was comfy, the breakfast was ample, and the beach was clean and largely vacant. They... more

We live in the Bay Islands - a getaway for most people. We wanted a place that felt like home, but without the day-to-day interferences that crop up. Based on reviews we read about the Diving Pelican Inn, we took a chance. Boy, did we ever make a good decision! Jim and Cathryn are outstanding hosts, and Baxter adopted us... more

This inn is beautiful. My husband and I visited the Diving Pelican just last week for our first trip out of the states. The inn is owned by a very friendly Texan couple, Jim and Cathryn, who made the stay so enjoyable. Jim will make you some amazing dishes! Try the typical Honduran breakfast. He's great at it. His french... more

My 16-year old daughter and I had a wonderful stay at the Diving Pelican. We can echo others' comments about this place. Jim and Cathryn are wonderful, warm, helpful, and easy-going hosts, the setting is simply stunning, the pace is relaxed, the accommodations are very comfortable, the breakfast is delicious (and made and scheduled to order), Baxter the dog is... more

As soon as Jim met us at the airport we knew we were in good hands (you can't go wrong with a retired firefighter). His soft, west-Texas accent put us at ease eventhough the airlines had lost some of our luggage. The Diving Pelican Inn and hosts Jim and Cathryn are simply THE BEST! We stayed in the beach-front room... more
